Nike's under 50 dollar shoe assortment looks best as a casual, comfortable option, with Pegasus and Winflow 12 getting called out as solid everyday pairs. The Pegasus is described as a perfectly fine running shoe, and the Winflow 12 as very comfortable and a good deal. The Downshifter 14 has an aggressive heel rocker that can feel unstable unless you run heel strike. Fit matters here, since Nike can run narrow and may not suit everyone needing strong support or lower back relief.

  • The Pegasus can work as a solid running shoe without needing gimmick-focused "pillow" marketing claims.

  • The Winflow 12s can feel very comfortable and may be available for about $82 on Nike's website.

  • The Brooks Glycerin can feel very squishy, while the Brooks Adrenaline can feel slightly less squishy.

  • The shoes can feel comfortable for casual running errands use cases.

  • The deal price can be higher than prior sale purchases, including reported buys at $34, $24.98, or $10.

  • Nike deals under $100 can come with narrow fit issues that may cause comfort and longevity problems.

  • The Downshifter 14's aggressive heel rocker can feel unstable unless used for heel-strike running.

  • The shoes may not be suitable for people who need true running shoes when lower back issues are involved.

Are these actually comfortable? I am desperately looking for a clean black show with solid support as I get lower back flare ups
I got a pair about 2 weeks ago and they felt the most comfortable out of most of the shoes I tried but after wearing them to work i decided to go back to my 25$ adidas

I got my 14's last year here on SD, not sure how much but I know they were on sale.

good. maybe then they can include wide sizes.
For real. I miss the constant wide Asics sales from a couple years back.

Avoid anything Nike, especially under $100. The only good Nike's I have found are the Air Pegasus and they are narrow still.Go with Brooks, New Balance, On Cloud, Asics. In fact, go to a footwear specialty store, like a Runners World, they know what they are doing for good shoes. They usually will find how you walk and how you wear out your sneakers and give you want works best for you.In your situation, avoid "deals" on sneakers, get what works for you and gives you long lasting comfort. Saving $50 isn't all that great if what you buy is going to give you issues.
Any particular new balance you would recommend or brooks?

Pegasus is a totally fine running shoe. No need to run on pillows either, makes no difference. So much marketing nonsense specifically related to running shoes. Qualifications - 50mi/week for like 10 years now or something

Disagree, think the Winflow 12's are a pretty good deal and very comfortable. Can grab them for around $82 on Nike's website.

Best you go to a store and try on and get measured. For me, personally, I found that the Brooks Ghost and Brooks Glycerine are amazing. For NB, I haven't had any in some time.

Pegasus is good. Everyone is different feet, weight , foot, just saying to the guy to make sure he doesn't just buy a deal and its' not a good fit for him.

They must really be good as a running shoe since you didn't get caught.

I think I'm blind? What is the name of the shoe shown in the second picture? The one with the Nike check somewhat covered up by the sole? I can't seem to find it?

These Downshifter 14 have an extremely aggressive heel rocker. If you are not using them for heel strike running, they will feel unstable and takes some time to get used to.
