You can call the number and tell them you want to cancel; let them know about the the $3 deal and if they say no, tell them you want to cancel anway - they'll put you on hold and should you be able to hook you up or keep you at your current rate.
I finally spoke with a human on the phone. She asked if I got the invite through the mail or email from Sirius. Upon mentioning I found the deal online and wanted to lock in the $3 a month deal, she said I was not qualified and offered me a $6 a month for 12 months plan. I declined.
Today, September 3, 2026, I called SiriusXM about this offer and was informed that it is only valid for 2018 and older vehicles. Despite my willingness to cancel my existing subscription, the retention specialist repeatedly refused to honor the promotion.
In June 2026. I subscribed to the Music & Entertainment package for $5.00 a month for one year because I was unable to secure another three‑year offer. After submitting a negative survey response, I received a call from SiriusXM requesting clarification. I explained that my rating reflected the company's unwillingness to provide a three‑year deal. In exchange for removing the negative review, I was offered the same plan for $2.99 per month for one year, which I gladly accepted.
The inconsistency between these two interactions raises serious concerns about the fairness and transparency of SiriusXM's promotional and retention practices. Customers should not have to resort to negative feedback or cancellation threats to receive reasonable offers, nor should promotions be selectively applied without clear and consistent criteria, especially given my long‑standing subscription history.
SiriusXM's $3 for 36 months promo is a strong low-cost way to keep satellite radio and app access, especially for road trips and areas with weak cell service. The plan is mostly ad free aside from station promos, and some accounts also include streaming through the mobile app, Bluetooth, or Android Auto and CarPlay. The main catch is eligibility, since many newer vehicles and existing subscriptions are rejected, while older radios and invited accounts are more likely to work. Taxes, royalties, and fees can lift the bill into the $4 to $6 range, so the final total depends on the account.
Frequent road-trippers who want the same stations across states, because satellite reception stays consistent where cellular streaming can be spotty.
Drivers who want hands-free music in the car, because the app works through Bluetooth or AUX and includes live radio and on-demand listening.
People in rural or weak-signal areas, because satellite service keeps working where cellular coverage is spotty or nonexistent.
Listeners who want curated music discovery, because the service offers genre stations and algorithmically selected programming.
Owners of newer vehicles, because the $2.99 for 36 months offer can be rejected on radios newer than 2018.
Drivers expecting the advertised price to apply automatically, because eligibility can be restricted to invited radios and the system may reject otherwise valid-looking offers.
Shoppers who need a fixed all-in monthly total, because taxes, royalties, and fees can push the bill above the headline price.
People who want uninterrupted music with no ads, because channels can still include commercials and station promos.
The $2.99 per month 36-month promo can work out to about $3 after taxes and fees for some eligible radios.
It is often rejected for newer vehicles and existing subscriptions, with many accounts showing "not eligible" or being told the offer is targeted to older radios, commonly 2018 and below. Some users still got it on 2023 or 2016 vehicles after chatting or calling, so eligibility appears to depend on the specific radio/account rather than just model year.
Yes. Calling to cancel and mentioning the $3 deal often triggers retention offers, and some users were moved to similar pricing like $4.99, $5, or $6 per month when the exact promo was unavailable.
The all-in price can be higher than $3, with reports ranging from about $3.87/month to $4.24/month depending on taxes and fees. Some users also noted that royalties and local taxes can add roughly $1 to $3 to the advertised monthly price.
Yes. The subscription can be used through the SiriusXM app, and it can be listened to via Bluetooth or AUX in the car; one workaround is to activate the deal on an older qualifying vehicle and stream it in a newer car through the mobile app.
Not always. Some offers were reported as $2.99 for 36 months, but other users saw shorter promos like $3.98 for 12 months or $3.98 for 12 months followed by the regular rate, so it is important to check the fine print before enrolling.
If I subscribe for $2.99 now with my qualifying car, but get a new car in the next 6 months - can I just transfer the $2.99 plan to the new car for the remaining 30 months?
We just went through this a few months ago and the answer is NO. Had the promo on a 2016 car and went to move it to our CPO 2025 and they said it was too new of a car. They refunded our prorated 3yr plan on that car and gave us a $3/month 3 month promo on teh new car which is ending this month. Going to have to get on the phone hand haggle with with again now.
Sirius is one of the dumbest companies too. I've gotten three or four months free so many times just by not paying the bill but it takes them so long to cancel. The radio in my car will work forever... And then finally after 4 months they cut it off
It's not dumb. It's because chasing after people like you incurs a real cost. More than what they actually lose on the fees that you didn't pay.
I am getting the same error people are mentioning - but that being said, it never asked to confirm what radio to apply to so I didn't have high hopes for it to go through..
I went ahead and humored their AI chat bot, which connected me to an agent (human, maybe?
) - politely said it isn't worth more than $3 a month for me (it isn't, I have Amazon music and other ways to get music from my phone / whatever) - he hit me with the $4 a month for a year deal - I politely declined...he said he put in an escalation ticket to get me this 3 year deal, so we'll see what comes of it (assuming a person will call me). I've had it cancelled since my last 3 year plan ended - so about a year, dunno if that helped sway him to put it up the chain.
I have a 2021 Dodge Charger - they definitely can escalate to a manager or whatever and override for newer vehicles.
Tried online with a 2026 vehicle that just finished it's trial a few months ago, currently without service. Web-site says Ineligible radio. Tried calling the number listed. Went through multiple AI prompts no luck. Spoke to an agent. Agent says that this promotion is online for certain 2018 vehicles that received an invitation.
Yea that agent is full of shit

We've been paying $5 a month for about five years now. The first time the trial period ended I had to call on the phone and persevere till they finally agreed to extend the offer another year. The next time I had to fully cancel it and two weeks went by after it ran out before they emailed me an even better deal. Last time I was able to request the cancel via an online chat and they eventually offered the deal.
If you're paying over $10 a month for XM at this point it's because you don't want to invest fifteen minutes or maybe have to live without it for a few weeks.
Been going back and forth between my wife's and my own account with free trials for 2 years now. Every time one trial expires it let's me sign up for a new trial with the other account, using the same radio id.
