This MSI PRO 850W Platinum unit stands out as a quiet, fully modular power supply with solid build quality for the price. The cabling is jacketed rather than sleeved, and the included connector mix may be awkward for builds that need extra SATA or Molex leads. Noise reports land around 35 dB, which reads as very quiet in a typical room. The 7 year warranty and B plus tier listing add some caution, making it a practical fit if you want efficient power without premium extras.
Quiet PC builders who want a near-silent power supply, because it measures around 35 dB and stays very quiet in a typical room.
Builders using standard cable combs, because the cables are jacketed and meant to be managed without sleeved leads.
Gamers pairing a midrange system with a dependable 850W unit, because a different wattage version has stayed solid for two years and MSI components are described as long-lasting.
Builders expecting sleeved cables out of the box, because the leads are jacketed instead of sleeved.
NAS builders needing lots of SATA power, because the included connector layout can leave too few SATA plugs and put Molex at the end of the run.
Noise-sensitive workstation owners, because this PSU can be very noisy at about 35 dB.

Do you live under a rock?
You know that refrigerator hum that you've tuned out until right now that I've pointed it out? Yeah, that's right around 35db. Silent is nice, but unless you're in a truly silent room, you're not going to notice a 35db power supply.
