This MSI PRO 850W Platinum unit stands out as a quiet, fully modular power supply with solid build quality for the price. The cabling is jacketed rather than sleeved, and the included connector mix may be awkward for builds that need extra SATA or Molex leads. Noise reports land around 35 dB, which reads as very quiet in a typical room. The 7 year warranty and B plus tier listing add some caution, making it a practical fit if you want efficient power without premium extras.

Never heard of this brand
Built my first computer in 1999 using a MSI motherboard. They were already a well known brand by then. Although I don't think they started making power supply until 2010 when they started their MEG (MSI Enthusiast Gamers) brand.

This PSU is very noisy, ~35dB, just FYI.
35db is basically where most sound measurement devices start (outside of specialized or scientific equipment). Unless you're expecting something basically inaudible, this is as quiet as it gets.

You know that refrigerator hum that you've tuned out until right now that I've pointed it out? Yeah, that's right around 35db. Silent is nice, but unless you're in a truly silent room, you're not going to notice a 35db power supply.

My tinnitus probably runs about 45db, so this should be perfect for me.

Can confirm, it is very quiet, sleeveless but nice cabling outside of that. My major complain is the cable selection for my use case. They put molex on the end of the stata so you get three sata one molex on two runs which was not enough for me. If you're going to do that include adapter in the box for those of useing this on a NAS like appliance. Packaging was mid compared to a seagate platinum psu.
