If you want a backup plan go to ebay and get the $30 red pocket plan - for $30 (total, not per month) you'd get 360 days of unlimited talk & text + 200 mb/month.
THE PHONE - a comparison
Sure it's not going to replace a flagship phone. But people looking at this ate probably replacing something like a 2023 Mototola Moto G play that's no longer getting updates.
The A16 has software support until 2030.
The A16 has 4GB+ RAM / 128GB+ storage (vs. 3GB/32GB)
The A16's screen is larger, brighter & will respond better to touches.
A16 Cameras: 50MP main + 5MP ultrawide + 2MP macro (vs 16MP main + 2MP macro + 2MP depth) Front: 13MP (vs 5).
The A16 has 25W fast charging (the Moto does not).
The A16's processor is 2.6-3 faster
Or in benchmark scores:
Moto 200,000 pts.
A16 550,000 pts
S26 2,800,000 pts
So the gap between the A16 & flagship is huge. BUT the 350,000 pts between Moto & A16 will be noticeable - going from noticeably laggy to competent for everyday use. And it's not like the Moto won't take pictures, download & play audibooks & podcasts, browse the web or stream youtube or Netflix.
