That part about Google being opt-in is actually incorrect. Google now sends an email after you sign into a Google account, giving you 48 hours to opt out; otherwise, you are automatically opted in. Also its called "Find Hub" now.

  2. Samsung smarttags
Both are opt-out networks so all iphones and Samsung phones automatically participate, while Google Find My Device (moto tags use this) are opt-in, resulting in much fewer users.

There are several posts about the moto tag tracking not updating or being streets away for accuracy

I guess it depends on whether the majority of phone users in you area are iPhone users or Android users.

If you have access to both types of phone, why not use one of each? If by tracking you mean that you want to be able to watch your car drive around on a map, neither will be suitable. You need something like Bouncie.

I have used Samsung tags in my stuff like vehicles and my kids backpack, recently switched to Google trackers only to find they only use a real time here it is, not a "history" of where it's been which is where Samsung has them beat. Not sure about Motorola, just throwing out the info I know.
