I purchased this in 2022 for the same price. It's been surprisingly helpful to keep around as a tinkerer and hobbyist DIYer.

Do you use it for 3D printing? Looks like it would be really helpful for designing some custom models.

I don't have this exact model, but yes, a calipers is extremely useful for that, almost required.

This thing has a dead battery every time I fire it up. Common with these types. Looking for one that doesn't.

I don't have this exact unit, but with mine I have to remove the battery when not in use. Kinda inconvenient, but gotta do what you gotta do.

These are extremely handy for measuring bolts, bike parts, etc. Might get this one as a backup.

Even tho I have far more expensive Mitutoya calipers, for everyday use I mostly use a Harbor Freight stanless steel digital caliper that I bought years ago for under $20. I almost never have to replace the battery in it. It holds up fine, whether I'm using the caliper near daily or if it sits without use for a month or more.
It auto turns off after about a couple minutes of idle time, but I typically turn the readout off manually, promptly after I get my readings.

I swore i wouldn't buy anything with LR44 especially reading how most "cheap" calipers drain batteries when not in use. I decided to try it after returning a few other brands in $40+ range. It seems accurate and there are no gaps between upper and lower jaws. Mine just arrived today. I found a printable AAA adapter for it. Looking forward to designing and making stuff. I can tell this one is rpobably no better than generic ali crap but as long as it's accurate i can deal with it.

I'd just get the Harbor Freight version of these when they are on sale (which happens pretty often) for around the same price because HF will exchange any defective item in store immediately. If you have a problem with these, you have to contact the company which is named:

shenzhenshifulaiwangdianzishangwuyouxiangongsi <---yes, this is the company's actual name on Amazon lol!
深圳市宝安区新安街道海乐社区广深路

...then you have to hope they respond, then package these up and send them back, then wait weeks for a replacement or for them to be "fixed" and sent back to you. I have 2 different HF caliper versions and neither one drains the battery when not in use, but neither has auto-off so you have to remember to turn it off when you're done or the battery dies. I have gotten good at remembering to do this now, so 1 battery lasts over a year for me even with regular use.

there's a mod to convert to AAA but need to print a battery holder. I wanted with CR2032 but those are rare and overpriced. I'm going to do it. Meanwhile i'll have to remove when i don't use it. Mine came today with a dead battery.

After reading the comments decided to purchase a USB-C rechargable one so I can avoid dead weird size batteries. They go for for around $30.

I just got this exact one a couple of days ago after having my Neiko that I got 9 years ago always having a dead battery and making bad contact causing flickering. These use a bigger battery and feels better.

Yes, I've been using this one for the last 3 year and I really like.
I had to change the battery twice so far. I use it almost every day.

Problem is with the batteries, they keep dying just when you need them. I guess the ones that use CR2032 batteries are better.
