The NIIMBOT B1 is a compact thermal label printer that stands out for cheap small projects and quick setup with the right rolls. The bundled labels and official rolls are convenient because the chip tells the printer the label type and size, so printing can start immediately. The low upfront price appears tied to proprietary chip equipped rolls, and the app may push a subscription for printing features or extra text options. Workarounds for third party labels exist, but they can be finicky and may require extra steps or custom firmware.
The printer can support a workaround that involves holding an original roll during loading to print with third-party labels.
The deal can still work even when the listing shows an expired flag.
Buying multiple printers can trigger an additional automatic 20% discount.
Using the official chip-equipped labels can let the printer print immediately without extra calibration steps.
The app may prompt for a subscription to use printing features, which can block basic label printing.
Some label safety claims raise concerns about chemical transfer through skin contact, even though the exact contents are disputed.
The printer relies on roll-with-chip proprietary labels that can make replacement rolls expensive.
Bypass attempts for chip recognition may fail because the company updates printers to defeat workarounds.
