xfinity sucks
Even if I could take advantage of this deal, I'd lose my cablecard I'm grandfathered into. If some agent there messes with my account and I lose the flag for that, I can never get it back apparently. I can't even switch to an internet package with unlimited data, I'm stuck on one with a 1.2TB cap still. I hope when the political winds change we get someone in the FCC again that will require them to support cablecards again.
In the meantime, I'm thinking about getting a secondary connection from a local fiber competitor just to avoid the cap since I do large backups and use streaming on my tv a lot more than I used to.

Verizon FiOS is offering $30/month, price lock for 3years with speeds at 300mbps/300mbps. I have the Xfinity $40/month already and will likely switch. I like that Xfinity gives out weekly rewards though. Not sure if Verizon does the same but you're also saving $120 a year by switching to Fios.

Take it if you already are with Xfinity. Call customer service first and get them to offer the deal before trying alternate person as you have to cancel and switch... it's a price lock for 5 years and you don't have to deal with them for that period. Be nice and you may get switched. You now get their cable modem + router free without the additional rent. Seems like new competitors are coming and 5 years may bring in better tech long term.

A few things to consider:

I had my own cable modem and router which paid off over the years and was rated 650Mbps. When I installed their free hw, noticed that Xfinity free wifi and mobile radios could not be switched off. Went back to my modem and could not connect. long story short, they obsoleted that model and would not let it back on even though it was working fine for 8+ years. had to go back to their hw but used my router in the hope of disabling their free wifi (did not want some crazy dude using my connection for an all-nighter). Those free wifi/mobile radios are hard wired to stay on even in bridge mode where the home wifi is disabled. Had to spend a lot of time with support before they agreed to disable it after 24 hours. it took one week!
You should be fine if this free neighborhood wifi does not bother you, or if you don't DIY.

This is better for thr GB plan than it was about 6 months ago when I switched to Xfinity. I have 300Mb for $40, and would have gone for the GB plan for $10 more if it had been available, but it was $70+ back then. I'll see if I can switch and still lock in tbr price for 3 years, though I'm think Verizon might be better since they have full upload speeds (Xfinity is like 10Mb per second max).

Thank you for posting! This reminded me to go look at my bill. Looks like I have the 300 Mbpsfor $40 plan… but promotion expires in about a month, and the price will double at that point.

Will soon be trying to extend the deal without getting into the 5-year commitment. Hate their guts, but will have to get on the chat with them.

Just for reference, I just signed up optimum with 1GB for $25 with current ongoing offer. I switched from Fios as they charging me $90 for the same.

I have there prepaid Internet and it does indeed suck but the price has stayed the same. I like AT&T fiber but those bastards kept raising the price

Unless you have no other options, I wouldn't recommend. Their customer service is abysmal, bill always climbs, and even when I'm now a former customer, I'm still reaching out a month later about unfulfilled bill credits I was assured 10 times over they'd be applied. This was with just Internet, I can't imagine if I opted for more services they're always plugging over the phone

Seems to work for current Xfinity NOW customers.

In May my Xfinity promo pricing expired so i switched to xfinity now. And now going through the checkout it gives me the $40/mo pricing.

The 5 years is a price lock, not a commitment. You can cancel anytime.

I am on a 1 Gig plan with AT&T Fiber for $75 per month, and tempted to switch to Comcast. However, the lower upload speed gives me pause:

Typical download speed 1172 Mbps
Typical upload speed 117 Mbps

Is 117 Mbs upload sufficient for two concurrent multiperson Zoom/Teams calls plus other internet activity? TIA.

30mbs is technically enough for 2 zoom calls so yes you will be fine.
