Good deals from a good company, if you can find the cleats you need.

Keep in mind that if you play on turf, you don't want a lot of studs that are blades as they can contribute to knee / leg injuries. Retail websites don't always describe them right, so go to the Nike site to see what surface the cleats are for. True "Firm Ground" or FG cleats also have longer studs, and really only meant for grass.

If you / your player mostly plays on turf, get artifical grass cleats (they work fairly well on grass). Mixed ground cleats can work, though by HS it's worth having AG cleats for artifical surfaces.

Most fields in the US are artificial turf but these companies insist on pushing FG cleats and it's harder to find AG cleats

Firm ground usually means dry conditions for a grass field. It was opposed to soft ground (sg) cleaners that had fewer and longer studs for wet/muddy conditions.

My son finds the adidas predator too narrow. Ai tell me that the Phantom 6s run a little wider. Any feedback from folks who've used this?

My three boys 16/14/11 all play soccer. From my experience and IMO I feel Nike Vapors Toebox is smaller in comparison to Adidas Predators. The synthetic leather makes them snug.

Also depends what position your son plays some cleats (vapor/superfly) are purposely lighter for strikers/wings

I asked chat this question before widest to narrowest toebox
1. New Balance 442 V2 Wide (2E)
2. New Balance Tekela Wide / Furon Wide (2E)
3. Mizuno Morelia II
4. Puma King
5. Adidas Copa Pure / Copa Icon
6. Nike Phantom 6
7. Nike Tiempo Legend
8. Puma Future
9. Adidas Predator
10. Adidas F50
11. Puma Ultra
12. Nike Mercurial Vapor / Superfly

Thanks. My son is 12 and plays center mid and sometimes on the wing. Vapors are a no go. I've also seen the NB wides come up in my research. Perhaps that's where I need to look. And the phantoms from this deal are sold out anyway

I just went through this. Son and I have wide feet, and particularly in toebox.

Check out the Nike Tiempo Ligera Pros (in your typical size). They are just awesome and comfortable. Second place: Puma King Ultimate 20 (size 1/2 size up). I wear the Ligeras and don't think about them. Maybe a little lack of lockdown in heel, but the comfort is worth it. A little padding, but ball control is very good. Actually, my son stole my ligeras from me now. That's why I have the Kings now.

Here was my whole journey, though:

Tiempo Legend 10 Pro - fail - toebox too narrow - sent them back without playing because I could barely get them on. My son could not get them on (we wear same size now... until he grows again)
Predator Pro 26 - okay, but risky - good control, but squeezes foot after a few minutes. I can play in them, but I think about them. That's not good. I play in them because I can cut and shoot, pass accurately, but I'd hate if these were my only boots.
New Balance 442 V3 - Nicely made, snug, but just a tad too short, pressure on toes. I don't think I play well in them.
Nike Vapor 16 Pro (Turf) - my favorite to wear to practices where I'm coaching, but if playing, these hurt if you get your foot stepped on or kicked
Adidas Copa Pure IV Pro - these seem comfortable, and they are waiting for either me or son to play in. I have no doubts these will be good, though.

Btw, lots of brands and models I didn't try. My problem was that I was trying to replace a trusty old pair of k-leather boots. In retrospect, instead of messing with synthetics in a trial and error mode, I should have gone straight maybe to leather Copa Mundials or Icons, or got MIJ Morelias.

My biggest lesson: unlike leather, synthetics have literally less wiggle room, and never will. They don't stretch like leather, so you need to get that fit right as there's no forgiveness.

I highly recommend the Boot Wizard on youtube. His wide cleat videos are great.

These are the things they should teach kids in phys ed class, instead of how to play european handball or square dancing....

My son has wide feet and bought the phantom 6s hoping they would run wide as suggested, still narrow. It's a shame nike doesn't offer any wides in any model.
