The new iphone supports 60W charging. The ad says this charger is compatible with iphones. Who wants to take a chance with their $2000 phone?
"Take A Chance"?,

How so??? As I..."understand it"...your electronics will only draw what they need. It isn't (or shouldn't be) that it is going to pump 65w in. No matter what!!! Am I mistaken? 🤔

Do you trust a $15 high-power charger to not short circuit or overheat and start a fire? That's your decision to make.
Does this happen relatively frequently? I'm asking an honest question, not being a smartelick. I see the warnings of these chargers causing fires on posts somewhat frequently but I don't know how often they really cause fires.

Edit: I searched and apparently phone chargers are not a leading cause of housefires and it is recommended to use certified ones (I think this one is verified), don't leave it plugged in (I doubt the folks who are warn us all about using cheap chargers don't unplug their own chargers), and don't charge overnight (again ....) and don't leave your phone charging on loose clothes such as your bed.

Therefore, I think that with a few basic precautions, there is extremely small chance of one of these chargers causing a fire.

Didn't apple recall their first USB charger?

It's crazy rare. Everybody has a phone or two and you may hear of something on the news.

Do you put $4.29 gallon gas in your $80,000 pickup truck or you get your gas from the dealer?

I agree with this thread's hate for the foolish fear-mongering, and don't want to add to it (I use plenty of cheap chargers), but it struck me that a better question may be if you'd use a $5 off-brand charging cable on your $80k EV? Wink

In fact, with this one at least having the "Amazon Basics" name on it, unlike the multitude of cheap chargers with throwaway foreign brand names, at least you'd have one US-based throat to choke if you did have a problem with it.

Exactly! Many cheap no name chargers will lack any UL or ETL safety markings.
