I just bought it for the phone and this crickett thing got me to thinking. I booted up mine with TF sim without activation. More testing needed but it's a good wifi phone and backup for now. I didn't even know about the Data Rollover on TF until now.

Followed exactly what you said but didn't work. I put my T-Mobile SIM for my other phone in and it connected to T-Mobile network but a splash screen came up almost immediately saying I was using an unrecognized SIM card. And there is no way to get rid of the splash screen.

You can login to your cricket account and request unlock, I doubt cricket will say it's unlocked. On Reddit, they cay 2025+ cricket motos show unlocked in settings but it's really not.

Same as my ATT prepaid moto phone from Target last year, showing UNLOCKED under settings, but splash screen pops up blocking everything once with a T-Mobile or Verizon SIM card.

And I should have pointed out the splash screen only popped up with an ACTIVE T-Mobile or Verizon SIM card. I understand OP tested with Mint SIM, and I am thinking it's an inactive one.
