Pretty good deal, if only it were in the 65" to 77" size range that I'm in the market for. 55" is just too small for my 9 feet viewing distance. I can't tell if Amazon is just trying to clear inventory or if this is LG authorized sale to smooth over the TV controversy.

You're a month late my friend, Costco had the G5 65 in for 1500 on clearance last month

I've been waiting for a C5/6 to hit $800, but this seems like a way better deal right?

G5 has the tandem panel, so brighter and less prone to burn in so I would say so. C6H has the tandem panel but for 48" or 77" and 83"

Ive been looking for a 55in for a bedroom and pulled the trigger on this one. Main focus is upscaling and it seems the G5 is top of list compared to the others I was looking at like, Samsung S90F, S90H and LG C5. Was waiting on EPP discount for the Samsungs but they were never in stock in my area when the S90H drops down to $799.

This TV was around $1500 just a few months ago. Doesn't help that they're getting bad press with the owners admitting they "own the glass" and spy on you through their what they call AI content recognition software. GamersNexus does a deep dive on the subject. I guess if it's that big a deal just never connect it to the internet and let your other devices do their thing.

I have an LG. I unplug it when not in use. I only plug in the Ethernet cable only to do an update of the firmware once in a while. I have been doing this for many years. This "spy" thing is not new, LG seems to be just more aggressive at doing it.

LG = listening glass

They own the glass, your data, privacy and what you said to your wife at night

I rather have a bigger size tv than a smaller tv and better panel. I say this as a 77" g5 owner. In a dark room all that extra brightness does nothing, and even my cheaper LG OLED models look great and not that much different for movies. For gaming it might be a different story.

Disconnect your LG tv from the internet and never connect it ever again. Even if it's recording everything you say in memory, it will never be able to upload the content.
