"The ROG Ally Z2A runs at a higher wattage (up to 20W) compared to the Steam Deck's 15W limit, giving it a slight edge or roughly 5–10% better peak performance in specific demanding titles. However, general gaming performance remains largely on par between the two at standard wattages." - Google

At retail, it's honestly the only entry level device left.
For anyone who says the device is weak, yes, it is the lowest powered APU of any current handheld, but LOTS of people still enjoy gaming on the Steam Deck LCD and OLED and this is no weaker than either of those. In fact the memory speed is as fast as what's on the SD OLED and it's got an extra 5W of TDP (20W) over either of the SD variants (15W). It's really not as bad as people make it out to be.

The ASUS ROG Xbox Ally is a Windows handheld aimed at entry level PC gaming, with a 7 inch 120Hz VRR screen, strong ergonomics, and two USB C ports for charging and accessories at the same time. It runs PC games natively, streams well from a desktop or laptop, and can be customized with Bazzite or SteamOS. The Z2 A chip is described as capable for most emulation, but weaker for PS3 and Switch and below Z1 Extreme or Z2 Extreme performance. The loud buttons and open box pricing around this level are the main knocks, making it a better fit when portability and flexibility matter more than raw power.
PC gamers who want native Windows play in a handheld, because it runs PC games without emulation and handles most emulation well except PS3 and Switch.
Travelers who want a slim handheld with a bright 120Hz VRR screen, because it is lighter and slimmer while offering two USB-C ports for charging and accessories.
Desktop-streaming players who want a portable client, because it is great for streaming from a more powerful gaming PC and has strong ergonomics.
Handheld PC beginners who want a retail purchase with warranty support, because it is positioned as an easy entry device with a quick return policy and manufacturer coverage.
Emulation-first buyers who want the easiest Android-style setup, because x86 emulation on Android can be a hassle and this handheld is better suited to native PC gaming.
Buyers expecting top-tier performance in every handheld game, because the Z2 A chip is weaker than Z1 Extreme or Z2 Extreme and is a bit weak for PS3 and Switch.
Shoppers comparing against cheaper used handhelds, because local Z1 Extreme units can be faster for around $400 or less.
Players who need quiet controls, because the buttons are pretty loud.
