Community Reviews

These Ball regular mouth mason jars are a solid canning and storage option, especially for people who process a lot or need jars for curing and storing buds. The regular mouth design is said to seal more easily than wide mouth, which can matter for pickles and other canned foods. The main caution is that newer Ball jars and lids have a reported reputation for more breakage or seals failing after a few days. The listed reference price also looks inflated, so the deal is better viewed as a decent price than a stock up opportunity.

Is there any reason to buy anything other than wide mouth?

I hate filling these ones.

Agreed. I've always gotten them for about $1 a piece somewhere else.

Even so, this is a really good deal. Especially when you are a person who cans a lot.

I agree a good price, I just took issue with the "original msrp"

When sealing, the regular mouth tend to seal more easily. Wide mouth I have trouble with sealing especially for something like pickles. Otherwise not really any different from what I have experienced. This is bad because I have to throw the jar back in the water with the pickles and that causes pickles to get kinda soft and mushy, instead of crunchy and firm.

Yeah, that is something that they need to enforce more. So many companies get away with this, but luckily we have graphs that let us know.

Interesting. I've never had an issue pickling with the wide mouth jars but I am usually quick pickling stuff, not canning.

Looking at the price intelligence box it looks like more often than not (especially the last 30 days) it is this price or lower.

If you are canning… they don't seal as easily.
