There is no standard size printbed but if there were it'd be 256x256x256 that all of the Bambu Labs printers are (minus the A1 Mini which is 180x180x180). Most of the modern Creality printers are 260x260xXXX.

If anyone I wouldnt say bambu would be setting the standard, they have only sold printers for 4 years.

220x220 was basically the standard for perhaps a decade. Only recently has the ~ 250x250mm become a new standard. My experience is most of the time the difference doesn't exist. I've basically never run into a case where my print would fit on a 250x250 bed but won't fit on a 220x220. I upgraded to a "helmet" sides print bed (300x300) because I had a specific print project that needed the space.

Still, if you are printing a bunch of models that take say 45x45mm then the 250 class bed means you can print 25 vs 16 at a time.

So what about this printer? While my lunch has been good with refurb Creality, others have had less luck. For a bit less you can get (on sale) a Flashforge 5M. It can't print the higher temp materials (open frame, 280C hot end) but it will be new and the quality is very good.

I have the K1 max and had the 5M. I had fewer first layer issues with the 5M (it helped that it came with a texture build plate vs the smooth from the K1max). The 5M's material change process seemed strange at first but I like it better than the process used by the K1 simple because it's easier. The material doesn't reverse out of the K1 that easily due to the bend at the print head.

Back in the day Bambu was the worst when it came to user privacy. Not sure these days. At least the FF works with generic Orca.

An enclosed kit for the 5M cost me about $45 in materials + kit. It's not as nice as the factory Creality setup but also not required.

Basically, this could be a good deal but the FF 5M for $140 or the AD5X multi color for $210 would make this a hard sell for me even though it's not a bad printer.

Sure, when 3D printers were new 220^3 was glorious but we live in the here and now. And now 245+ is to be the sweet spot. I'm not saying it's a bad printer at all; I was just alluding to other printers being larger while not being much more expensive.

That's not small. I have the K1SE which has the same size and I find it plenty for 95% of everything I print. The rest needs to be cut in the slicer and recombined

Sheesh, you guys act like I insulted your manhood. The A1 Mini is tiny at 180^3 and many people find that it's plenty for 95% of what they print as well. 220^3 is only 1.5" larger in each dimension. 250^3 is another 1" larger than that. 220 is "pretty small".

I mean, I got the ad5x and its 220x220 and I could see how one would say its small. This is also sub $200, I feel like the next meaningful size will be 320x320 at least

Yeah, it's a pretty good deal but there are always deals going on. Sparkx I7 is $263 has multi-color/filament capability and is 260x260x255. That would be worth stretching for.

Own 3 ender 3 type. I'm so tired of the 220x220. Sure it do 80%, many times I desire the 260. Also ender 3 isn't the best if you talking about even heat. So totally surface is less.

If this is a true auto level bed. Then it's a plus. All the Ender 3 type with BL still require you to do it, Bl only fix small issue.

pretty great price, i've had a k1 max for almost a year and i love it, it's faster than the anycubic kobra s1 and the bambu x2d i own. obviously only in single color, whereas the others can do multiple colors or materials. the k1c is obviously a smaller version of the k1 max but i believe it's similar other than size. i could be wrong.

This one has full bed level (level and z offset). The earliest Enders has manual leveling. Later they had auto leveling but still manual z offset. However, with the Ender 3 V3 models, all have full auto leveling and auto z offset.
