MFish E-Tank is a compact desktop charging station that combines three AC outlets with four USB C ports, RGB lighting, and high wattage charging in one hub. The design is also described as very similar to Genki Moonbase, and the price is called much better than buying a comparable Ugreen Nexode 200W setup. The main concern is electrical safety, with repeated testing showing hot and neutral reversed on some units. That makes it a neat desk charger on paper, but the wiring issue is hard to ignore.

  • Desk workers consolidating multiple chargers, because it combines three AC outlets with four USB-C ports in one compact station.

  • People charging high-power laptops, because it can deliver 140W on one USB-C port and 100W on another.

  • Shoppers who want a desktop charger with visible status lighting, because the outlet lights pulse to show activity.

  • Home-office buyers who need a safe power strip for permanent use, because multiple units tested with reversed hot and neutral wiring.

  • People powering sensitive electronics, because reversed wiring can defeat protection features and create shock or fire risk.

  • Travelers who need portable USB charging, because it has no USB-A ports and the USB chargers are separate pieces to carry.

WARNING. This product is not electrically correct. As many have noted using outlet testers the NEUTRAL and HOT are reversed in this product. I have personally confirmed this with a multimeter voltage test.

A swapped hot and neutral will operate correctly but can have minor to dangerous consequences. In the worst case downstream products can have EMC problems since the hot terminal isn't properly filtered to ground. In other cases protection mechanisms (like fuses) which are normally only present on the HOT line for many domestic products will be unsafe during a fault condition (the fuse will disable the device but not remove live power from the circuitry as intended.

I would highly recommend people do not use this product even though it may seem fine under normal conditions.

Well it's already been established, but I did say I would report back.

As concluded, this is a severe hazard. Why someone would do this I have no idea. It was a conscious effort to wire it like this.

Edit: I wrote a negative review on Amazon and I see a few of you did as well. Nice work!

Vendor reached out and sent me another device. Same issue with the replacement, inverted plug and hot/neutral reversed. If you bought one of these I'd make sure you check it!

Not heard back from them since I let them know it was the same issue. I'm guessing they are all affected and will need to wait for a new manufacturing batch.
