MFish E-Tank is a compact desktop charging station that combines three AC outlets with four USB C ports, RGB lighting, and high wattage charging in one hub. The design is also described as very similar to Genki Moonbase, and the price is called much better than buying a comparable Ugreen Nexode 200W setup. The main concern is electrical safety, with repeated testing showing hot and neutral reversed on some units. That makes it a neat desk charger on paper, but the wiring issue is hard to ignore.

Thumbs down! I checked the wiring and it has the hot and neutral reversed. Will be returning.
They have a UL and FCC report on their site. How could this be? Assuming it's just outright fake?

I genuinely don't understand what is special about this, and I'm not trying to crap on anyone who likes this or bought it. Does it do something special? I'm asking to learn, not to disrespect.

Those 3-light receptacle testers aren't 100% accurate 100% of the time. That said, who knows if the 3rd party lab they paid to evaluate it against UL standard did a great job? Or if that sample was good but his unit was bad?I bought one anyway

I have an electrician I work with at my job, when I receive mine I'll have him take a look.

Here is the UL report.

Lab in China. Looks standard though. I am now skeptical of claims that the hot wire is reversed. May be someone who has electrical experience can test it?

Thing is, there are plenty of ways to defraud UL and/or the consumer. For instance, they could have sent in a set of good, high-quality samples for certification, then once they got listed, they mix in crappy/defective ones. Or, the real company could be selling 100% trustworthy ones, but a knock-off company they don't know about is mixing their inventory into Amazon Fulfillment's bins. Or they could be fake UL-listed (the only way to be sure is to check directly with UL to see if their listing is still valid--any company can show a UL-listing on their own paperwork but have let it lapse).

Last time I bought a high-wattage power supply for a 5G modem I had to look very carefully to find a genuine product that was still listed directly on UL's site. There were tons of fakes that claimed to be listed but had fake registration marks on the power supplies.

I reached out to MFISH to advise my experience with the hot and neutral wires being reversed and this is the reply.

"Hello,
Thank you for sharing the details! It appears your order was placed through Amazon, so we are unable to directly handle after-sales matters.
Please contact Amazon customer service through the app—they will assist you with the exchange or refund process.
I will also report it to the Amazon department, and they should contact you.
Best regards,
Clark"

Some comment on the wiring would have been expected. Don't get the impression they cared.

I used a fluke tester on it, the same one that I used reported correctly on the socket into which this device is plugged but reported reversed when I plugged into this device. We also used it throughout our house redevelopment for socket and GFCI testing so I think it's pretty reliable. I have posted a review with a picture of the resulting error and reached out to the vendor for them to comment. Waiting for the review to post.

Did you also notice that the plug seems wired in reverse? The cable comes off the top of the plug rather than the bottom once plugged in. Is that just me or is it somehow not wired in the usual way for US standards?
