Their cancellation policy states no activation fee within 3 days and then only prorated charges if you cancel your line within 30 days.

Community Reviews

This Verizon Pixel 11 Pro deal is mainly about getting a heavily discounted flagship and then verifying carrier unlock after activation. The strongest upside is the low out of pocket price, with store pickup and immediate activation often leading to an unlocked phone that works with Google Fi, Mint, T Mobile, or other eSIMs. The main catch is Verizon's confusing unlock behavior, since some units stay locked for hours or days and the bootloader remains permanently locked. Cancellation usually needs chat or phone support, and full month bills or prorated charge adjustments can take follow up.

Received the phone and activated on Verizon number (new number). Do I have to create an online Verizon account to confirm account set up and chat for cancellation? I already have my Verizon app for my home FiOS internet and would prefer to keep this new number separate

Yeah it's better to create a new account for cancelling and then keep track of bills and when the charges get waived etc. So create a new account with email and inside add the new phone line. That way when the account is cancelled, the line is active. You should also verify that the phone is unlocked before cancelling

How do I verify that before cancelling with Verizon?
  • Insert a Different SIM Card: Put a SIM or activate an eSIM from a different mobile carrier (for example, if your phone is from Verizon, try an AT&T or T-Mobile SIM). If the phone connects to the new network or makes a call, it is unlocked. If it shows an error or asks for an unlock code, it is locked. [1, 2, 3]
  • Check Manual Network Operators:
    1. Open the Settings app.
    2. Tap Network & internet, then select SIMs.
    3. Choose your SIM card and turn the Automatically select network toggle to OFF.
    4. Search for available networks. If only one carrier appears, the phone is likely locked. If multiple carriers show up, it is typically unlocked. [1, 2]

I ordered 3 of the Pixel 11 Pros. Is there a way I can remove them from the numbers and just have the numbers attached to no devices so I can sell the Pixel phones right away, or do I need to wait until I cancel the lines?

Also, is there a way to verify that a Pixel is unlocked without opening the box?

You need to connect to network for the phone to unlock. They aren't unlocked in the box. They are locked to Verizon.

Hmm I was under the impression that after a certain amount of time, and fully paid for, a phone would automatically be unlocked by Verizon. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

You will need to activate on Verizon to unlock because these come locked on Verizon from factory.

Yes, I was hoping to activate them on Verizon without opening the box, thinking that they would automatically unlock after a certain amount of time once they are fully paid for.

But looks like I was mistaken if I need to turn on the Pixels to activate.

However I'm also reading that if you're buying a phone directly from the Verizon website, they will scan it and activate it when they ship it to you...
So if anyone has any experience with this, please chime in!

The phones are always locked fo Verizon from factory. That does not change when you pay it off fully. When the phone is paid off Verizon sends a unlock request to Google server, the server then sends that to the phone. I am not sure if Verizon a.has already sent that request to Google or you need to activate the phone on Verizon for it to recognize it's a paid off phone and then send the status to Google.

If someone can just boot their phone with a different carrier SIM at the very beginning they can verify that for you but it's likely that you need to activate this on Verizon network first.

Understood. I do know that they need to be activated first, as well as paid off. If there is a way to activate the phone online without opening the box, that would be amazing. But it seems like I must open the phone to ensure activation and sell them as "new open box."

Thanks, I called Verizon because I accidentally selected transfer my existing number so I wanted to change it but the representative told me just call back and ask for a new number when you receive the phone. FYI cb $150 for new customers.
For those who are did go through a cb for new customers and then canceling the line, wouldn't that void the cb?

Besides Fi being useless, it's expensive & I'm getting Spectrum for free.
You're paying for your spectrum cellular as part of your other spectrum products - whether it is "free" or not.

And at 35 a month for a free truly unlocked hassle free phone you're at $700 for 2 years and this requires you to jump through hoops to have a Verizon branded device - and you're still at $500.
