If your smart tv apps work great, no reason to get anything else. If they are buggy, then i'd recommend getting a nvidia shield tv pro. Its a little old, but IMO still the best out there.

LMFAO.. trade in value for my gen 2 fire cube is...... drum roll.......... $5. (whomp whomp)
But there are cheaper options in Android like onn 4k TV pro.
After trying out the latest Onn boxes, I think the Onns are way better than Fire TV Cube. The Onn is cheaper, less of a pain to side load, and although the raw performance isn't quite as fast as the Cube 3, it's still plenty fast enough for the stuff most people would ever use it for.

Yes. But Amazon is monitoring what gets sideloaded, and your favorite app may work today and be blacklisted tomorrow. The Cube can be exploited to gain SuperUser (ROOT) access to Erase & Disable Amazon's Blacklist, something easy enough that a tech geek/nerd can accomplish, just follow directions posted on XDA-developer forum.
