Honest question, why would you use this if you have all the apps on your TV?
At least with my LG TV, the native OS is slow as molasses, which is probably because they put in a low-end CPU. I purchased an Amazon Fire TV Cube and the difference is night and day. So, while my LG TV does have a native OS that has many of the same apps, having to use it is a pain because you're stuck with that slow CPU that's inside the TV hardware. It's often better to just use the TV for its screen and an external device to power the OS.

Grabbed one. Love my 2nd Gen Cube. No complaints, I use it everyday and it's still seems snappy as ever but I'll move that to my secondary TV and use this as my main.

I use a Firestick TV Stick via WiFi. My old TV is not connected into the internet and the apps are out of date. I never heard of this cube thing.
It's basically the same thing with a faster processor and built in hands free Alexa.

Yea, I'm generally not a fan of streaming platforms built in to TVs. It's kind of a waste of hardware that's not upgradable, but I understand the appeal also since you're getting an all-in-one package. I would prefer they lower the price and keep TVs bare.

Annoyed I bought the pro controller and this and when i say alexa find my controller it doesn't work because seemingly the bluetooth on device has gone to sleep -_-

besides that the cube itself is pretty snappy. Not the best but sufficient I guess. All I use the voice activation for is turning on and off the tv when i cant find the controller

This is the answer folks. Faster processor. FireTV is android based so the UI on Google TV is almost similar. I have been using FireTV stick and Cube since it came out. Did all that side loading back then and also Use Plex. The Onn 4K is the best bang for the buck when it comes to streamers. I would wait for that to go on sale.
https://www.aftvnews.com/benchmarks/ There are things to criticize Amazon for with these, but the Onn 4k Pro certainly doesn't have a faster processor.

Another drawback of the Cube is that it's one of the few Echo/Alexa products that force you to use the new "millennial bithcy attitude" Alexa 2.0 and prevents you from going back to the adult O.G. Alexa.

True and Alexa+ breaks voice control of the cable box which was the only reason I bought this thing for the inlaws. grrrr!!

You mean increase the price?

TVs are notoriously subsidized and inexpensive because of the snooping they do via Automatic Content Recognition (ACR). Without those built-in apps they'd have less ease of accessibility to your viewing habits.

Native Smart TV apps are usually pretty terrible and outdated. If your smart tv apps work great, no reason to get anything else. If they are buggy, then i'd recommend getting a nvidia shield tv pro. Its a little old, but IMO still the best out there.
The Shield OoS everywhere now sadly.

Bought one and returned, maybe if it had clock on it could replace my echo and fire TV but I realized the TVs own streaming apps were easier to deal with although I am still waiting for independent streaming apps we can maybe run off raspberry pi or something else but those don't do all that great with hdmi-cec.
All of these just mine data from your viewing and network and sell to advertisers.

Is worth it to upgrade from ver 1?
My V1 became extremely slow to load apps. It is a huge upgrade in terms or processing power.

One can only hope that they stopped production to clear out inventory for a new version.

I used to be a big fan of the Fire TV Cube 2 and then 3 because of the price to performance ratio and still being able to side-load. But Amazon's been cracking down on side-loading in the last year. After trying out the latest Onn boxes, I think the Onns are way better than Fire TV Cube. The Onn is cheaper, less of a pain to side load, and although the raw performance isn't quite as fast as the Cube 3, it's still plenty fast enough for the stuff most people would ever use it for.
What kinda cracking down r u talking about? I have been using smarttube and iptv apps on 3 cubes (v2+v3) for last 5 years. Never had issues
