DeWalt battery chainsaws and pole saws come across as a convenient fit for routine trimming, limbing, and smaller downed trees, especially where gas prep and noise are a hassle. The 18 inch and 20 volt tools are described as easier to live with for homeowners, and the 60 volt saws are called beasts that can rival gas for longer cuts. The main caution is that battery saws struggle more on big trees, palms, and dirt work, and warranty length may depend on date codes if the item came through an unauthorized channel. A practical pick for lighter property cleanup.

I've heard that Dewalt does not warranty items from Woot as they are not an authorized retailer. Can anyone else confirm?

Manufacturers will typically not honor the receipt or its proof of purchase date, but will instead go off of the date code on the item if it is not a counterfeit or flagged as black market. But grey market items sold through unauthorized channels may have been sitting around for years in various warehouses in various countries on various continents, so the warranty length may be shorter than expected.

no battery chain saw is slick ever. You are better off with a battery powered jigsaw and a very good long blade. Battery powered chainasaw is an oxymoron.
You mean reciprocating saw with a long demo blade?

It all depends. There are times where a chainsaw is useful - limbing. A chainsaw will cut much quicker than just about any other saw. That said, if you're doing a lot of work near the ground then a recip saw with a long blade will last longer - a chainsaw will destroy itself in dirt. (plus you can plunge cut in dirt with a recip saw, e.g. cutting tree roots).

That said I would suggest a pole mounted chainsaw if possible - I wouldn't be cutting down a legit tree with a battery powered saw, I'm pretty much just going to be using it for limbs so why not get a battery powered pole chainsaw. On that topic, Walmart's HART brand of extensions is compatible with the dewalt 60V power unit.

my 20" bar 60V dewalt chainsaw is a beast. Just make sure you have multiple batteries. I prefer it because I have asthma and have to wear a mask when I use my Husqvarna chainsaw. I get exhausted using it from having to breath with asthma through a mask. Sure it's more powerful, but the Dewalt makes it easier on me, even if it takes longer.

Looks like I can get the 18" chainsaw kit with an extra battery for around $425 after taxes and the coupon code. Can someone that doesn't have an anti-electric agenda tell me if this is a decent price? I'll be using this mostly to just handle smaller downed trees and cut them into manageable pieces.

I don't agree with that at all. As a homeowner on 2 partially wooded acres, branches fall and trees need trimmed all the time. I have a big gas chainsaw that I've used for 15+ years for the big stuff, but I've had the DeWalt 18" since covid and have not used my big gas chainsaw at all in that same time frame. I'll keep the big gas one for when the big trees fall, as both chainsaws have their place, but the battery is finding its place more and more.

Dealing with a gas/oil-powered engine on a chainsaw is the most frustrating, productivity-killing hassle ever conceived. The ritual of doing what it takes to prep for a session with a gas/oil is a chore in and of itself. That's all gone with a battery-powered saw. I've got the 18" saw and the 12" pole saw with extender and that is all I need to maintain my property.

The discount code isn't working for me on any of the chainsaws.

Edit: Switching from firefox to chrome worked. More and more websites breaking for firefox lately.

Great deal! Picked up the DCF891B impact wrench and two 5ah batteries for $264. The closes deal I found was at Lowes for $284 and two 4ah batteries. TU
