The Retroid Pocket 5 is a compact Android retro handheld that stands out for strong emulation at its price, especially PS2, GameCube, Wii, and much of the Switch library, with some light Steam and Android gaming possible too. The 5.5 inch OLED screen, larger controls, and clean black design are recurring highlights, and newer batches appear to ship with 12GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Setup takes some tinkering, and the device is not truly pocketable. The small screen and 60Hz streaming latency are the main drawbacks, and more demanding Xbox or PlayStation 3 gaming still calls for a pricier handheld.
The RP5 can emulate much of the Switch library, including Breath of the Wild at full speed using 1x resolution.
The RP5 can run lighter Steam games when using ArmadaOS, DroidDeck, or GameNative.
The RP5 can run the entire PS2 and GameCube libraries without issue using Turnip drivers.
The RP5 can upscale PS2, GameCube, and 3DS systems, which helps improve the handheld's overall retro output.
The RP5's small 5.5-inch screen can cause eye discomfort for some players.
The RP5 may require firmware or calibration work to fully benefit from 120Hz, even when the hardware supports it.
The RP5's 60Hz refresh rate can add noticeable latency when streaming.
The RP5 can have significant input lag over HDMI on Android, which can hurt fast gameplay on a TV.

This was top of the line at this size 2 years ago. Something will be much better than the 6 in 2 years.
By all means if you'll use the extra power then spend more. But don't expect to future proof here - buy for what you actually plan on using in the next 1-2 years.
Recent ebay sales are all over, but it looks like you can get ~$100-120 for a 476. So in theory I get an additional 4gb and an updated processor (that is a bit long in tooth but still works) for ~$40-50
But the RP5 is still a great device at that price.

Well, the 12gig Thor sells for over $400 now new and frequently goes out of stock/has long wait times. I don't find it hard to believe you could sell it used for enough to buy a $250 RP6.

I used to own an Odin 3 Max, but I ended up selling it because my eyes hurt from playing on the small screen.
Now I have a Portal 2 and an ROG Ally X, both with 7-inch screens.
I'm hoping the Portal 3 comes with an 8.4-inch screen, that would be even better.
