Btw, an rare issue I had with my S25 FE. I left it in drawer for 9 months with it turned off, but after that I couldn't turn it on even leaving it charged on 25W USB for hours. Luckily, Samsung was able to fix it under warranty, but they also changed the motherboard, which altered the EID number. It's a pain to use eSIM after that as the EID doesn't match what carriers have in their system after giving them the IMEI number, it also affect the unlock, so I couldn't unlock it after one year. I ended up just trading in that phone, didn't even get a chance to use it.
As for TMO? Metro eSim device orders you MAY be able to bypass the 12 month unlock requirement if you put a physical SIM inside the device (with whatever carrier you want) before turning it on and activating the eSim service. Though the chance it'll be permanently locked to whatever that physical SIM carrier is? Pretty high.
If you do normal esim activation, you'll have to just wait 365 days until you can use the device on any other provider besides Metro. Yes that includes other Tmo network providers including TMO postpaid directly.

Say the physical SIM is from an MVNO like Tello, Ultra or even some foreign provider who don't lock phones to their network. Is the locking you mentioned dependent on the physical SIM used?
someone mentioned new port out restriction but i don't remember

Did not know about the physical SIM hack. Thanks.

A phone you buy from Metro is already tied to Metro before it leaves the warehouse. Putting a T-Mobile or AT&T SIM the phone will just cause an "Invalid SIM" or "SIM Not Supported" error. Metro's unlock policy is 365 days from the day the phone is first activated on their network, you just have to wait the year.
