Great prices for this handheld, whether used or open box. Really surprised they haven't been effected by the ram/storage shortages.

I bought mine at full price, play most of my titles on it now.

This is an easy recommendation over the Steam Deck OLED. The Deck OLED 1TB is $949 before tax, vs this at $790 before tax. I can't recommend the Deck under any circumstance at today's prices.

This is a powerful handheld with good power efficiency. It reviews well and should be able to play most things you throw at it. I'm surprised it's available this far off the MSRP with today's RAM and NAND prices.

Yeah, not sure what Valve was thinking with those price increases...the 256GB LCD was $319 on sale, now it's discontinued and you have to spend at least $789 for the OLED. Sad.

this is a lot better of a value (X20 has same SoC and only slightly bigger screen, OLED, TMR sticks coming in at $1299), but if you're a big fan of the Ally and want the absolute best then the X20 is the obvious choice and ships 10 days from now.

I ended up selling my XAX because I find 7" to be too small for FHD. Good price though

Steam is thinking "we aren't willing to lose money on hardware sales".

Why would they want sales that cost them money? You act like losing money to make a sale makes any sense for them. All it does is cut in on their profits, they sell games and make money already. They don't have a closed ecosystem that only functions if they sell this hardware the way PS or Xbox or Nintendo do.

Dang might need to see if there is a BB credit card deal going around. My limit was 600$ for one of these but might be close enough

FYI, this was originally marketed as "An Xbox" and part of that experience was using Cloud streaming to stream Xbox games that don't play natively on this. MS has done a bait-and-switch and now has Cloud streaming capped at up to a max of 15 hours per month, depending on the Game Pass tier you have.

I am trying to talk myself into this, but I already play games on a gaming laptop with a controller, and I just don't think I need a handheld form factor. I am in the same boat as you. I fear that if I get it, I'll be struggling to enjoy the smaller screen. I am also super leery of trusting Best Buy's open box grading. Ugh, these dang Slickdeals effect urges.

Can anyone tell me if the PC games have text that is easy to read on 7" screens like this? Or, is that a constant issue on many games?

The x20 is only worth it if you dont mind paying $300 more for an OLED (or $500 if comparing to used/open box) that is slightly larger and slightly fancier colorway.

I was excited for it as I love OLED screens and waiting for it until the day they announced pricing. That same day I got a like new Xbox ally x off Facebook marketplace for $800. As much as the x20 is the best version of the Xbox ally, a $500(plus tax) premium for just a screen upgrade isn't worth it for me. The xbox Ally X LCD screen is already pretty high quality, so an OLED isn't going to knock your socks off by comparison.
