It is not yet established because the class action litigation is still ongoing, but this specific filter is allegedly not HEPA. I have two Bluair ones and two C535 (one from Costco and one from Winix). Winix's ones look so much simpler, thinner. Let's see how the lawsuit is settled (most likely, Winix will not admit any fault, settle, and pay a small amount). We will never know as the matter wont be finally adjudicated. Oh well, I will continue to buy this filter thinking it is true-true HEPA lol

I voted with my wallet. I don't buy Winix any longer due to the very well known issues with the fan bearings whining loudly after a short amount of time. I returned my units to Costco where applicable and used credit card extended warranty for the rest. I've been using Coway and Levoit for a couple of years now and so far running as good as day one with no noise. Winix is the epitomy of the cheap printer/ink model for air filtration.
The c545 model was specifically mentioned in that class action lawsuit. I will continue using those until these models die. I need to replace the filters, for now. Once either model dies, I will get Blueair or LG. For now, even if not a true HEPA filter purifier, it at least works (doesnt have any fan issues, yet) and cleans basic dust, like a dummy DYI box fan purifier.

Fair. For now both of my units are working. Once they start dying, I will replace them with a proper air purifier.
apparently fits model 5500-2, although officially not listed. Hmmm
You have to be careful on that. I bought a new winnix and the recommended filters from the Amazon page. When I went to replace the filters six months later, they were the wrong ones.
It also said that these were the same filters as my old one. Also not true.
