I love how they've figured out that Apple product users will pay extra for the "iPhone 18" over the "iPhone 17" version even though the chargers are identical

Same part number and everything....
Well, in fairness, it's un OTA firmware update via the Anker app that allows for iPhone 18 recognition...but yeah, same hardware. The charger is nice though - with the rotating prongs either up or down.

Recognition and AVS support... That AVS support is what you're paying for here.

If you're just after the fancy folding prongs, Anker makes a version without the screen that can do up to 65W

As an iPhone user, I'm angry because that's so true...

What if one wants the burgundy color to match the new 18 pro?

I was researching this charger last week and had some difficulties on certain specifics. I didn't even notice the variants at that time.
As I understand it, this will not do full max (faster, but not full speed, iirc) charging on iPhone18, regardless of OTA update. There is not a lot of info out there to really confirm that, however.
This following is from AI (Amazon) regarding the variants. It says they are indeed different. Is it trustworthy info? Thats a different question:
Ah, got it! You're asking about the Anker Nano Smart Display Charger variations.
Not quite — the iPhone 17 and iPhone 18 versions are different SKUs, not the same product with a firmware update: Key Difference:
•iPhone 17 version (older stock) — cannot receive OTA updates for iPhone 18 support
•iPhone 18 version (current) — ships with OTA update capability built in; firmware adds iPhone 18 recognition and AVS charging via the Anker app by Sept 30 Important: Reviewers report that even though both are model A121D, they're hardware variants you can't distinguish without opening the box. The iPhone 18-compatible version costs about $5 more.
If you want iPhone 18 Pro/Pro Max optimization, make sure the listing shows "iPhone 18 Compatible" before ordering. Existing June 2026 stock won't update, but new September stock will. Would you like help confirming which version you're looking at?

I think it's $18 right now

If you're an iPhone user, you can pay more and get it in burgundy or pastel blue
