fyi. I bought the cruicial p310 2230 2tb 7100 for under $100 from amazon 2 years ago. This is just outrageous even at $260! I blame the users buying this at such a outrageous price that BB can even say it's $272 off when in reality it should be under $100 for this.

The demand is too high to effect it with any consumer restraint.

I'm with you, I paid $2.19/gal for gas 2 years ago, If we stop buying it now it will come back down.

Bought these (well WD SN740 2tb) for my Steamdeck and also another for my family members handheld 2 years ago for 65$ on AliX. Crazy the times we are living through. Had I known then this is where we would be I'd have stocked up to sell later.

Exactly!! Consumers are such a small portion of their customer base that we have very little to do with the pricing. Data centers are by far the drivers of this pricing. they NEED the storage and they are willing to pay top dollar. We simply want the larger drives and it doesn't benefit them as much to supply the consumer market.

And the more people that buy into this the less they are going to lower the price even if this Ai demand went away.

Last October I got me a 4TB SSD WD digital black for about $214 with one of these slick deals for my Asus rog ally x. Insane, this is just insane!

Data centers are not paying these prices. They negotiate much better price. We are paying exorbitant prices because the supply is limited, not because we are competing on price with data centers.
