Is it worth the potential hassle, or would you just go directly with another carrier even if it costs a little more?
Community Reviews
Lyca Mobile is a very low cost option for basic talk, text, and light data, with 18GB, 8GB, and unlimited plans that can work well as a second line or throwaway number. The app and online dashboard can show the account number and transfer PIN, and porting has gone smoothly for some. Data can throttle to about 3 Mbps after the high speed allotment, and taxes are reported as low. The main cautions are unreliable service in some areas, random drops, and a messy support and cancellation experience, including blocked renewals, fraud checks, and difficult port outs.
Drivers who want a cheap second line for navigation, because maps and Android Auto can work while the plan's data is used sparingly.
Phone owners who keep calls and texts separate from data, because the line can handle voice and SMS while a second eSIM covers internet use.
Travelers needing a short-term backup number, because the service can work well for a new line and is easy to drop after a month.
Light-data users who are fine with throttled speeds, because the plan can drop to about 3 Mbps after high-speed data is used up.
Drivers who depend on constant mobile data for streaming or live traffic, because the connection can drop and LTE can be too slow for hotspot use.
Main-number users who cannot risk losing their phone number, because port-out can fail and leave the number in limbo.
People who need fast customer support, because account and compatibility questions can take weeks to answer.
Families or caregivers managing someone else's line, because porting and account changes can be difficult to handle remotely.

Then I use traveller esim of other company, it is $6 for 5 gig or $10 for 10 gig a month. I mostly use free WiFi from home or at library or business using VPN if I am nervous.
My plans are cheaper.

When you activate, remember you zip code used;
After you activate, signup online account on computer; once logged in, on Dashboard, you click "Manage account" in the left pane; then you click "view" next to "Account & Pin number".
That is the Account# and the NTP/Transfer PIN/Account PIN, whatever you call it.
Just did this a week ago. I double checked with customer service via email twice, and that worked. Good luck.
