Is it worth the potential hassle, or would you just go directly with another carrier even if it costs a little more?
Community Reviews
Lyca Mobile stands out for very cheap plans with usable data, especially for a second line or a number you do not rely on every day. The 18GB plan is described as fast enough for everyday use, and after the high speed data is gone, speeds reportedly drop to about 3 Mbps, which still works well. Taxes are low, and the online account can show the account number and transfer PIN for porting. The main drawbacks are recurring billing and support headaches, with reports of blocked payments, slow replies, and difficult port outs that can put a number at risk.
Lyca account pages can show the account number and port-out PIN in the Manage Account section, which may reduce the need to call support.
Lyca throttles high-speed data down to about 3 Mbps after the data allotment, and that speed can still feel usable.
Porting out can work smoothly when the account number and PIN are available online, including instant porting to Verizon reported.
Lyca can work well for a new number when used as a second line with eSIM for several months.
Port-out can fail and put the number into limbo, which can lead to losing the phone number.
Lyca can create billing and cancellation friction, including charges after auto-pay is confirmed off and continued charges after attempting to cancel.
Port-out can be difficult because port-out information may require calling support and providing two frequently called numbers.
Lyca service can worsen after switching to AT&T in some areas, and Privacy card payments may be blocked which can trigger renewal charges.

Then I use traveller esim of other company, it is $6 for 5 gig or $10 for 10 gig a month. I mostly use free WiFi from home or at library or business using VPN if I am nervous.
My plans are cheaper.

When you activate, remember you zip code used;
After you activate, signup online account on computer; once logged in, on Dashboard, you click "Manage account" in the left pane; then you click "view" next to "Account & Pin number".
That is the Account# and the NTP/Transfer PIN/Account PIN, whatever you call it.
Just did this a week ago. I double checked with customer service via email twice, and that worked. Good luck.
