The new MILWAUKEE 3/8" Stubby Impact Wrench delivers the Most Power, Is Lighter Weight & More Compact while delivering 50% Faster Application speeds. Leveraging POWERSTATE Brushless Motor, The Stubby Delivers 0-3,000 RPM with up to 550 ft-lbs of Nut Busting Torque, allowing the removal of the most corroded and stubborn applications. This Milwaukee solution delivers on performance and size, at only 2.2 lbs bare tool. Users will experience less fatigue throughout their work week while fitting into tight spaces and allowing access where larger impacts can't fit without using additional accessories or disassembling components to reach the desired fastener. Equipped with Tri LED work lights to illuminate your work area without the frustration of shadows. 4-Mode DRIVE CONTROL for greater precision and customization to your desired power output, including AUTO SHUT-OFF that applies no more than 15 ft-lbs of torque for hand-tight applications that prevent overtightening when in forward. In reverse, bolt removal mode will slow down the RPM once the bolt is free to prevent bolts from flying around your work area. To change the modes, it is a single-handed operation. By shifting the forward-reverse shuttle into neutral and double-tapping the trigger, you will be able to change modes effortlessly.

Lots of power. Small form factor. What more could you want.
I have the 1/2" version and it's a beast, but unless they've fixed the detent pin it is seriously annoying and imo defective. The pin is beveled instead of round so you have to depress it with a pin of some sort to get sockets on and off. I keep a pan head screw on the belt clip for that purpose. Another fix is to put an adapter/small extension on the end of it, but that's got its own issues as well.

What some people call defective, others call a feature. If you're working up high, possibly above people, the last thing you want is to accidentally drop a socket off of your impact. If you're using an impact for automotive work where you want to be able to quickly change sockets and aren't worried about dropping them, a circlip instead of a pin for socket retention is best. If you have pin, you can usually rotate the socket so it doesn't engage, if that is your preference.

Thanks, not sure if I'd ever need the 1000 ft lbs for the m18.
I had both since my M12 got stolen. The M18 1/2" zips those rusted-out bolts on heavy-duty jobs. The M18 can use the 2.0Ah battery and if still too much power for the job, you can always turn the power down to level 1.

I've never had sockets fall off any ratchets with round detent pins, including a M12 ratchet. I have a M18 impact wrench with much more torque that has a friction ring and the sockets pull off easily, so any claim by Milwaukee that impact sockets need to lock in place makes no sense. It IS a beast of a tool for its size, but to me the detent pin is an issue that buyers should be aware of.

That's also a pretty long adapter, the low-profile ones are supposed to lose less torque.
