If you've never owned one of these they vibrate the tip of the unit at high speed. Tips are replacement also. You can purchase a Dremel engraver tip to use on your regular dremel also!

The engraver's tool tip actually moves up and down (reciprocates). A rotary Dremel tool with a carbide engraving tip is a completely different experience - the tip tends to walk away where the engraver is very steady.

If you are engraving small letters, get the engraver. If you are resurfacing or texturing large areas, use a rotary tool. Both have their uses.
