This is a great deal. 400 nits... 120hz. 16gb ram. It will run linux beautifully. Only problem is every ideapad that i have known has suffered from screen issues after a year. Keyboard issues only 1 ideapad. Dead pixels and bad bleed .. every single one. But you can just keep using it. Also no backlit keyboard but use an external one because the plastic will look like crap after a few months.

Incredible deal. 120Hz screen, good CPU, good RAM, etc. Only gripe may be HDMI 1.4, but in this economy, that doesn't really matter

It's a great deal for the specs but complete garbage. All Ideapads build quality is trash plastic that the hinges separate from the screen or top case. They just cheapest plastic possible. It's a shame because it is really good specs. But better off just buying a used thinkpad or latitude and get good specs and better build quality.
Yea maybe not 300 series ultra but atleast itll be built better.

also I'm not sure if this laptop will allow charging from PD USB c ports? I see the barrell jack which is ok if it will still allow for power delivery USB c charging. all in all I like the specs like upgradable ram, hate the fact it's a cheap IdeaPad and would probably pass on the deal.

what would be a good used model? My son is looking for something around $400 for general computer use, will run linux.

On their Windows Ideapads, yeah, they use their own DC port. As a brand, once you go to Flex or Yoga series, or ANY Chromebook/Googlebook, they only use USB-C charging.
