This is actually a really great deal. We're shopping around for home generator replacement and Gemini was in line with what our servicing company noted: when this model goes on sale at Costco, you won't find that value in many other retailers.

Drawbacks:
-This unit has a 5-year warranty vs 10-year warranty some others have (e.g. Briggs &Stratton)
-Servicing: smaller network of dealers who service Kohler
-Wider area of clearance required for side heat discharging

That's because you'd only buy this model if you already had propane tank on property or had a natural gas connection. For your scenario you'd want a diesel generator instead. Shame on anyone who quoted you for all that work without explaining this to you!!! Run far far away from that vendor or salesperson!

As another person mentioned, install can be expensive. Depends on what your home has ( mines natural gas ). 10k+ but for no reason other than a unique install. I'm pretty DIY and would do it my self
