I am having trouble as well getting that low price. I made sure I didn't have any premium add-ons.

In your cart, click on "View Saved Promos".

Select only the 3 offers applicable for your book, deselect other offers you may have. Keep toggling the check boxes until only those 3 offers stick.

Anyone have an idea of what the usual normal price on something like this? Shutterfly seems to have deals pretty often. I can't imagine anyone is ever actually paying $212 for an 8x8 book.

Thanks OP. Got it to work eventually. Initallly it had defaulted to Matte and professional printing options that I did not realize it had so I had to remove those.

I do these as year-in-review books just for fun plus some as gifts. I started when they were still Kodak Gallery back in the early/mid-2000's. They do get expensive, and waiting on the free extra pages is crucial to not overspending. That alone saves me more than anything else since most of my books are 60+ pages. For an 11x14, it's pretty easy to go above 80$ even with discounts. I have one that was nearly 100 pages, and they had trouble binding it causing shipping delays, but it did arrive in good shape.

The extras do add up, but some are wroth it. The matte cover is worth the upcharge. Glossy pages are worth it but the 6-color printing really isn't. The metallic text on the cover also doesn't show up well. I haven't done something so important that I'd want to pay the much-higher cost of the lie-flat pages. If you have a lot of pictures that go over both pages, it might be worth it b/c the standard book definitely will hide the very center.

Most of all, unless you're tight on space or making a book for a child, I would skip the 8x8 and 8x11 sizes. I know the other sizes have a higher starting price, but you can get more options with multiple and/or larger photos. I personally like the 11x14 over the 12x12.

If you get the book and there are smears or bad pages, tell them and they'll make it right. It's happened twice to me in dozens of books. I've had to take pictures of the issues to show them, but each time they've sent me another book after reviewing the defects. I've offered to send the bad one back, but they don't want it for obvious reasons. It is nice to know they stand behind their product.

Thanks that's some useful advice. My wife has wanted a photo book like this for some of the vacations we took. I'll pick up one of these as a surprise for Christmas. Cheers
