What is the point of having a community driven forum for tracking sales when a majority of the 'top deals' are always posted by SD staff?
I dont remember it being this common early on but this has become more pervasive and makes it feel far more like SD staff just trying to get referral bonuses to promote certain sales

The slickest deals are often still posted by the community, but I think posting deals is less of a hobby than it used to be. Videogames and streaming services got a lot better, and everyone has guitars and kids. Collecting the weekly Woot deals is more like work, so that's where staff comes in.
At this point, buying anything from woot makes zero sense. Often the same price you would pay elsewhere m, but buying older tech for the same price with 90 day warranty.
Explain to me how Cooler Master and Thermaltake had any part in this? Redirect your outrage to where it actually belongs... the tech bros and the US government.

Agreed honestly. I mean some of the staff posts are pretty obviously just paid advertisement of some variety, but most of the posts by ya'll are for actually decent deals and occasionally insane deals. The rest seems to be posted by a handful of people who despite not being staff, probably put in borderline staff hours meandering around the internet like Dr. W lol.
Yeah, because that's worked out so well in the past. You do realize that killing off these companies is just going to make it so your only two choices are prebuilts or cloud, right? If you want any chance of returning to sane prices, the people actually responsible have to go.
They are sitting on billions with a lifetime parachute.. I'd recommend something more violent but reddit doesnt like extremist posts..

There is zero chance that Dr. W isn't making commissions or some type of referral-based kickbacks from their rapidfire postings. They post massive amounts of products and will fight you to the death over the legitimacy of the deals.

Thank you for your response.
Could you also be a little transparent about internal KPIs:
Are staff required to hit a daily/weekly quota of posts in order to maintain established performance metrics?
The way you describe "collecting weekly woot deals" as a begrudging chore implies that this site is no longer about finding the absolute best deals, but rather routinely collecting discounted products to plug to users here.
The SD mantra seems to no longer about finding great deals, but rather about creating a pipeline for advertising discounts to the eyes of the huge userbase here.
