Would this pump be suitable for draining water from an in-ground pool that has a deepest section of 5 feet? I haven't changed the water in years, but I've heard that as long as the chemical levels are maintained and the water remains clean, there's no need to replace it. I'm considering draining about half of the water and refilling the pool with fresh water. I have a saltwater pool.

I bought a similar model in the summer , it works well but be warned , the gph is nowhere close to what is advertised.
True all depends on the elevation the water needs to travel and the hose size. But sometimes you didn't want a fast running pump. But something the is slow and can handle the influx of water coming into an area.

My advice is spend the extra 20$ and get the Harbor Freight pump. That is what I have and it works great. There is no way this amazon pump can do 10000 gal in 2 hours, that is just a straight up lie.
By the listing's 4755 GPH, 10,000 gallons is about 2.1 hours, so 2 hours only holds at max flow with no lift.

Absolutely not. I bought a bigbox 1/2HP one and that died within 3 uses of half emptying ingournd pool. This, most likely should be a frustrative experience to see it struggle and should die relatively soon. Think about how many gallons you are draining. Can this unit handle the continuous tortureous lifting water out to from your pool to waste water collection point? A good one such as the right model from Zoeller should be good but you dont need to spend that kind of money.

For saltwater pool, you are not dumping calcium or other solid based chlorine in your pool constantly. So long as your chemistry checks out, replacing water should be a very infrequent event, like in 5 years and more span. So maybe rental is a better solution if you have one around.

Just playing devil's advocate. I have a similar pump (don't remember the brand), and it takes about 10 min to drain the 500-gallon hottub, which makes it 50gpm or 3000gph. 10-15gph mentioned by you is a nonsense.
how much noise do these make when working?

I can only speak to the company's 6" chainsaw. Bought one 2 years ago for $20 thinking I had very little to lose if it was junk. I used it about a dozen times the first year and was very happy with it. I then decided to buy a second unit because I figured it probably would not last much longer and I did not want to be without it. I have now used the original one 25-30 times for close to 1000 cuts with no issues other than a new chain. Have not used the second one yet and I just bought my brother-in-law one as a gift. I don't know if my experience is indicative of other Seesii products, but I have been very pleased (and quite surprised) by its performance and longevity.

This deal, along with most of the other seesii products, are posted by staff and almost all go to frontpage. Your spider sense should be tingling.

I've helped out my buddies pool business for years. The only pools we drain are the ones we are replacing liners in or fixing the pool crete. Unless you have some bizarre geographic conditions, if you use a filter (and maintain them) and the right chemicals there is no reason to drain, only add water to it due to evaporation. Filters need cleaned/changed.

Even a gravity siphon off a 1/4" tube should net 2-3x more than that. The 4700~ GPH is likely based off the non adapted 1-1/2 fitting and almost no 'head' but as someone who has drained their pool a few times (the last foot of depth at least), it is pretty remarkable how much water these (style) janky little pumps can move. And mine is only rated at 1900 gph. I can even flood my neighbor's driveway 125 yards away...don't ask me how I know Wink
In for one to flood my neighbors driveway
