How does this compare vs the Milwaukee m12 fuel hatchet?

Wondering if it's worth to return my unopened one and buy this instead.

This is a great tool. Once you use it on downed limbs, you won't want to lug out the chainsaw for small tasks anymore.

Exactly. They're wonderful for stuff that's too big for a lopper but too small to justify getting out a full size chainsaw.

I've had mine for several years without issue and it lives on my covered porch through brutal summer humidity. Was the absolute MVP for cleaning up after hurricane Helene. Had multiple downed trees that all landed on top of each other, with upper branches converging in to a 15ft tall x 50ft wide tangle. Didn't matter that I could use larger saws to cut downwards through ten limbs at once, because there was no way to pull them out of the knot.

Everything had to be done much slower and methodically and I used the hell out of this thing for a week straight. Still use it every couple of weeks since limbs are always falling here. Very rare that I need anything larger, and I've oddly never had to sharpen or replace the chain. Probably because I'm always using it elevated off of the ground and it never runs away in to the dirt/rocks.

I've had the 8" version for two years and it's been great.

I have a 4oz. condiment squeeze bottle full of chain bar oil for lubing the chain.

I have a similar adapter so I can use my Ridgid batteries on my old Craftsman 19.2 tools

I got the 8" version last spring and I've not only used it heavily myself but have lent it to friends with fallen trees and limbs and everyone just loves it. It handles a well supported log or limb up to the size of my leg but is light enough to confidently one-hand for smaller stuff. I like calling it my bonesaw while pulling it out of a duffle bag, 'Housecall extoiminator soivices, no rats too large."
