New to dewalt 20v platform. They have tons of battery vacuums compared to other brands. From my research it, this model appears the all around best one out there. Any dewalt connoisseurs can confirm?

Confirmed. This is my most used Dewalt tool. Even the wife loves it. I have it hung up in our utility closet just off the kitchen and it comes out basically every day, sometimes multiple times a day. Pick up some spare knock off filters on Amazon and you're off to the races.

How often do you have to clean or change the filter? I find that other vacuums with conical filters need some kind of cleaning every major use or suction drops off. Or does this have some kind of cyclone on it?

If you use a military exchange account to purchase (like NEX) the price comes to $89.10 flat. No tax. No shipping cost.

I love love love this thing. My wife wanted to get those expensive crappy dyson one, but i was able to convince her to get this somehow. Its not hideous and its in the closet anyway. Strong enough for most things around house with kids and even my cars. The dewalt battery is obvs the point, and it is a big point. A 4-5amp battery will clean ~1500-2000 sq ft comfortably.
Filters can be had at amazon for super cheap.

So i empty it every use and give it a tap. That should last a long time like 2-3 mos. But it depends what youre vaccuuming obvs. Amazon filters come with a foam pre filter, and thise help with longevity quite a bit

Probably once every three months. My knockoff filters came with a foam prefilter element that's washable. That helps extend the life of the filter, and the suction is still good enough for my use case. YMMV depending on the size of your messes.

I bought a vacuum that looks suspiciously similar to this DeWalt, same basic design even down to the attachments, except for the hose. My knock-off doesn't have a hose. Oh, and the DeWalt's belt clip, lol. I can't imagine using a belt clip with this thing. I'm serious, I think they're pretty much the same vacuum.

If you buy the DeWalt because you already have DeWalt batteries that's fine, but this Kewiara vacuum comes with 2 4.0Ah "Makita" compatible batteries, and it's only $47.99 https://www.amazon.com/KEWIARA-Co...B0HDNRQZHB Take a look at the photos, they look the same to me. I can confirm that the Kewiara is an awesome vacuum with really powerful suction, and with that cyclonic action it doesn't lose suction. It's just another option for those interested.

When I say Makita compatible batteries think those tools with no-name batteries for mini chainsaws like Seesii. They work with this vacuum. I already have a ton of these generic batteries, but even if you don't, the ones that come with it are good.

I also found these. DeWalt and Milwaukee compatible knock-off versions of the same vacuum without batteries for $49.69 (also without a hose...I do wish mine came with a hose like the real DeWalt, but oh well). https://www.amazon.com/Cordless-H...07-9161967

If you really want the hose they do sell it for $28.99 but I use my vacuum for my kitchen floors and all-weather rugs with the floor attachment so I don't really need it. https://www.amazon.com/Tolxh-NA11...B0DWFDZXXX
