This refurbished Dell OptiPlex 7090 Ultra is a tiny monitor mounted desktop that stands out for its 32GB of RAM and Windows 11 Pro at a low price. The i5 1145G7 is a laptop class chip, so performance is solid for light to moderate use but not a powerhouse, and the CPU is soldered to the mainboard. The unusual form factor can also limit expansion and make fitment important, though it can be powered by USB C power delivery and is meant to create an all in one style setup. A decent value if the compact design matches the job.

  • The 32GB RAM configuration stands out for this price range and supports heavier multitasking workloads.

    palewookBrewedcoffee

  • The i5-1145G7 is a laptop-class CPU that can still deliver solid performance for the money.

    amdaxiomfintlewoodlewix

  • The compact OptiPlex Ultra design can fit behind compatible Dell monitors for an all-in-one style setup.

    dattguy

  • The unit can be powered via power delivery, which can simplify setup with compatible monitor stands.

    StewartWenger

  • The CPU is soldered to the mainboard, which limits upgradeability for future performance needs.

    CharlieC9067HonestCircle906

  • The OptiPlex 7090 Ultra line appears discontinued, and mounting it to a TV may require a hard-to-find offset VESA mount.

    pharaoh248ideazinfinite

  • The i5-1145G7 may feel lackluster and could bottleneck performance and future-proofing.

    Brewedcoffee

  • SSD quality may be low and could fail quickly, which raises reliability concerns for long-term use.

Minipcs in this price range will have much worse specs overall. You may find one with a better cpu, but it'll be barebones so it can't really compare

These were designed to fit on the back of Dell monitors to create an all-in-one, hence the unique shape

It would have to be. I have never seen a major retailer/newegg (other than best buy open box) provide a laptop or desktop without the power supply or cords. Either way, easy returns until next Jan via Walmart.com or in-store.

Great specs for the price. The CPU is a laptop CPU so this is not a powerhouse but for the price now you can't get better specs than this. Just be sure the form factor works for you.

Is this any good for light Fusion 360 and heavy 3d printing?

It's basically a laptop without the screen. You can get a similarly specced laptop for about the same price.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

Seems like the SSD quality (and maybe other things) are very low quality and may die quickly: https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin...r_quality/

Looks like a gateway drug device for getting into homelabbing. Pretty sweet deal.
