Home from the swim team party. BT got "most improved" for his age group. LT got the standard trophy. LT got the "being launched across the pool by the coaches" game shut down because he did a super cool flip in the air. laugh out loud He can't help that he's little with a low center of gravity! Whee

Mozez - I thought you were gonna say "LT got the being launched across the pool by the coaches trophy" and I was like "Holy shit that's the coolest trophy ever and I want one!" laugh out loud When does swim team start up again?

Day 1 with my parents have the kids. We saw a movie tonight that actually had cuss words in it. We had forgotten what it was like to see a non-pixar or pixar type movie at the movie theater laugh out loud Horrible Bosses, it was pretty good.

Then we went to some restaurant we hadn't tried yet Genghis Grill. You went up to a salad bar type thing...put the type of meat (was all raw at this point) into the bowl they gave you. They had all kinds of meat but I sort of wondered how sanitary all that raw meat was sitting out, lol. Then you'd go to the next part and they had loads of spices you'd put on the meat. Then the next part you'd put whatever veggies you wanted, baby corn, jalapenos, broccoli, potatoes, water chestnuts, whatever into the bowl. Then you'd go to the next part and you'd pick what kind of sauce you wanted and put that into a little bowl. I got some peanut sauce thing. Then you'd take it to the guy in the front and he'd ask what kind of starch you'd like, tortilla, pasta, brown rice, fried rice, etc. Then they'd cook it on a hitachi type thing and you could watch them or go back to your table and they'd bring it out to you in a weird red bowl that was kinda tilted.

It was good...Patrick was kinda "WTF so I'm paying to design the meal myself and put it together myself?"...he likes it when he just picks what he wants and they bring it to the table. I do too but this was kinda cool too. Though we were all excited to go out to dinner with no kids and every single table around us had kids. And not just one but loads. Anyway it was fun.

its a mongolian bbq. they're great for guys as a bragging rights place to eat. either its all you can eat, or one time through. with my group of friends if its the former, whomever eats most eats free. if its the later, whomever gets the most stuffed into their bowl gets it free. my trick was placing the meats first borrowing my friends bowl and crushing them to compact it. you can get 3x as much like that. and veggies are just empty calories that take up space.

laugh out loud Yeah I had way more meat than veggies. I didn't crush it down like you do but I only threw in a couple pieces of broccoli and potatoes for good measure. Which starch do you usually get?

I got chicken, a couple pieces of pepperoni (I don't know why other than it just sounded good at the time lol), dragon salt, garlic, pepper, red pepper, couple pieces of broccoli and potato, that peanut sauce stuff and fried rice. Oh and some sliced cilantro. I don't know what I was making but it tasted pretty good.

Oh and they had some murky looking water called garlic water...it looked weird so I didn't get any.

another exhausting day for me. hung out at the aunt's whose husband had the brain surgery all day. his short term memory is gone. everything i have to tell him 3-4 times. plus he gets a lot of random comments that make no sense. i had to listen to him pontificate on religion for about 45 minutes. i'd have found an excuse myself out of there, but i had just came back from running an errand for him and found him passed out on the floor. he couldn't remember anything since i left or till i was back.

on the good note, i tried my hand at an al pastor type marinated pork steaks. flavored some oil with annatto seeds and some rehydrated ancho chilies. came out great. if i do end up in this area.. i need to open a restaraunt. there's nothing here. best yelp has to offer is 4 stars, and thats the $$$ places. most of my families favorite places are at best 3.5. ugh.

To lighten the mood...that reminds me a little of the iCarly episode where Spencer ( heart heart heart ) had short term memory loss and he kept repeating everything, lol.

So with short term memory loss...when he lost it does that mean it's gone forever? That's gotta be so hard for him and the people he talks to. My grandma is kind of starting to have that trouble too but it's not terribly bad.

Do you like truffle oil? I remember briang used to go on about it but I forget what kind he used or what it was used for. I keep wanting to try it, just for something different to cook with.

I almost got the noodles but then thought rice just sounded good. Yeah the garlic water...I didn't get what that was about. I put garlic right in it so wtf was the point of garlic water? Seriously it just looked like dishwater, lol.

he'll regain it. part of it is he's on such heavy medication he's going to be in a daze for weeks. grandma has no short term memory so we have practice Stick Out Tongue

i love truffle oil. i need to find more uses for it. so far all i know to use it for is with fries, popcorn and eggs. haven't made anything fancy since i bought it. just be careful with it. some truffle oil is a great thing. too much is inedible.

only reason i go noodles is because you can shape it so you get a lot on the bowl. i feel like a freaking engineer with my mongolian bbq construction Stick Out Tongue

Well that's good then, that hopefully it'll get better.

Ohh good to know about using it sparingly. I tend to go overboard with stuff. In my mind it's like "If some cheese is good, even more cheese it better" (or bacon) (especially bacon).

I'll keep all that engineering in mind next time I eat there laugh out loud

I went to an all-you-can-eat Chinese place that also had a grill similar. I was trying to replicate the meal we get at the Japanese place..so I get my stuff, go up there and he asks me which sauces I want..and I'm all Shocking because I had no idea. I just know I don't like teriyaki.

Whee That would be a cool trophy. They gave out paper plate awards - like "crazy hair" and "Always smiling" and "Spirit Ice Giver" for the kid who kept putting ice down shirts, but he called it "spirit ice." laugh out loud If they'd given those AFTER the pool party I feel certain LT would have gotten "Best projectile." Check out my FB profile picture. My friend caught a picture of the first attempt. Roll

Here's a tip: When you're dealing with people with memory loss who tend to go on the endless loop, don't argue. The place my granny is calls it "join their journey." Agree with them, then redirect to another topic/location. Say their name, touch their arm and say "It's time to come into the kitchen to get ready for dinner." Or "It's time to come have a snack." Or "It's 3:00. It's time for Wapner." Or "It's time for a rest, let's get you comfortable in your bed or recliner."

When they get belligerent, they get choices that aren't really choices. "would you like to take your dinner in your room, or in the dining room?" "Do you want to eat now or in 15 minutes?"

Oh, and a PRN prescription for ativan or something helps, too. laugh out loud I have some of that at the house for my granny for when she gets feisty when we're out and about.

Went to church this morning, out to eat, then spent some time in the pool, then saw Horrible Bosses. I think I'm ready for a nap now. laugh out loud

I sent the boys to the ball game with Dad and Grandpa. Turned into an 11 inning game. laugh out loud And the boys got to run the bases after the game, so I had a nice long stretch at home alone before leaving to go shopping. Alone. Cloud9
