SIL's family is in the US from overseas (stationed in Europe) and won't make it far enough south for some DoubleDaves pepperoni rolls. I'm going to try to sweet talk the manager into selling me raw ones so I can flash-freeze them and pack them with us when we head to see them north of the Mason/Dixon. Need to know if it would be better to just get them baked and reheat.

Here's a tip: When you're dealing with people with memory loss who tend to go on the endless loop, don't argue. The place my granny is calls it "join their journey." Agree with them, then redirect to another topic/location. Say their name, touch their arm and say "It's time to come into the kitchen to get ready for dinner." Or "It's time to come have a snack." Or "It's 3:00. It's time for Wapner." Or "It's time for a rest, let's get you comfortable in your bed or recliner."

When they get belligerent, they get choices that aren't really choices. "would you like to take your dinner in your room, or in the dining room?" "Do you want to eat now or in 15 minutes?"

Oh, and a PRN prescription for ativan or something helps, too. laugh out loud I have some of that at the house for my granny for when she gets feisty when we're out and about.
hug thanks for all the advice. i spent most of the day on me time.. watching sports and movies. got called over late. apparently my aunt spent weeks searching for a reliable nurse to help clean after grams accidents, cook and be available in the mornings. their nurse now is a sweetheart.. really polite and hard working. grandpa thinks she brings bad luck. my aunt was on the verge of nervous collapse till i told her i'd take care of it. just help me in the interviews. its the first time ever someone was able to help with grandma and grandpa stuff other than sending food/money.. meant the world to her

on a happy note. going to san fran wednesday. day game giants/dodgers. plus goof around in san fran

Good morning. My cousin is coming over today with her 2 kids and my sister is coming with my niece, so.....I guess I'm spending time in the pool today. I need to clean my kitchen. Nick's gf is coming over this evening. She moves tomorrow. Frown

How far away is she moving? Between jr high and high school we moved 10 miles seperating me from a childhood sweetheart. It seemed like across the counrty. And this was back in the day of super expensive long distance (and of course 10 miles ended up being a long distance call somehow). As soon as my parents allowed me to date we did. I spent most of my allowance to talk to him on the phone.

Girly

When we were in college my ex spent a semester in London. My phone bill (which went straight to my parents) for the first 6 weeks of that semester was something like $800. LMAO I'm on the fence about whether I wish we'd had things like Skype back then - it would've saved me that headache but I am SO happy I got out of school & such before technology such as digital cameras became ubiquitous. Very few of my shenanigans are documented photographically and I'm incredibly grateful for that!

My exFinance had to move and wound up in the only fricking calling area that you could NOT get a calling plan for! 300/mos bills for BOTH of us sucked...ah the days of young and stupidity...lol

My bedroom looks amazing!! DH was happy to see it, too. Slowly but surely I'm getting my house back. So much has been put on hold lately. It's nice to regain control of my house.

Roll I've got a lot to do around here. Somehow my spare bedroom/office/junk room has become the storage facility for all my grandparents' crap. I need to contact the glassware reseller and see what he'll give us for the china and depression glass.
