Annoyed I dragged my sorry sickly carcass 10 miles across town in 100-degree heat to take this dumb certification exam AND THEY HAVEN'T EVEN DECIDED ON A PASSING SCORE YET!

Quote from stupid exam "results" printout :
This confirms that you have completed the HIT Pro Technical/Software Support Staff Exam.

As soon as a sufficient candidate volume has been reached, the final score audits will be conducted and the passing score shall be set.

Once the above occurs, your official Technical/Software Support Staff Exam Score Report will be mailed to your attention.
Ranting I don't know why they couldn't give me a score and still say this... then once they determine what a passing score is, they can publish that & I'll know right away. Now I have to wait for them to mail me some crap, AFTER they get enough people to take the test and AFTER they get off their asses and "determine" a passing grade? WHY ARE YOU OFFERING THE TEST IF YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT I HAVE TO DO TO PASS IT YET?!?!?

Ugh. At least my employer is going to give me my raise when I get my grade from the class... passing the exam was not a prerequisite for the $$$... unfortunately I have to wait for dum-dum Professor T1 to post the scores, so I might actually have my certification results before I have my grades. Mad

I am going to make myself an omelette now and sulk. Annoyed

I sent DH to the baseball game with the twerps and Grandpa last weekend. He was ready to bail and come home after just a few innings. It went to 11, and the kids got to run the bases after the game.

Suddenly my job doesn't look that easy, does it? Eyelash

Not saying mine are the hardest to deal with, just tired of the daily "What's on your agenda today?" as if I don't have plenty to do keeping them from killing each other. laugh out loud

We thank the heavens daily that our kids are "only" annoying and difficult and sometimes really really really offensive. DH had a client in the office the other day who was telling him about going through the Make a Wish Foundation options with her 18 yr old who has cystic fibrosis and isn't expected to live much longer. Suddenly, the boys became much easier to handle. Frown

It's all fun and games until I have to drop my LT in his kinder classroom. Frown I'll be a mess. Inconsolable for maybe 5-10 minutes, then I'll be all better.

Nope. And it's a $300 test too. Luckily if you took the course through an authorized learning center (read: community college) then you got a voucher to take the test for "free" (except for Pearson's $20 scheduling fee of course). Annoyed If I didn't post for the test, or if I have to retake - $300 out of pocket.

Certs in general are such a scam. Give me a good honest mob boss who I can just hand a paper lunch bag full of money any day. Making me jump through all of these hoops to "prove" I know how to be a server admin, or do desktop support, or configure a router, or implement an Electronic Health Records system... it's bullshit IMO. The sheer volume of paper MCSEs ought to tell you that. And I know more than a few guys who are freakin' wizards in the real world but can't pass a test to save their lives. It's not any kind of accurate measure of knowledge or ability, it's just another way to generate revenue and give HR people something to look for on resumes. Annoyed

A network admin once accidentally deleted my development database. He's now a certified professional, and working at Microsoft. Too many certs on a resume is a huge red flag to me at this point.

In wire and cable there is a Cert called an RCDD...registered communications distribution designer...to run all that physical layer for your packets to traverse upon...

The test has like a 60% fail rate...but the guys that pass it are either really smart...or can study for a test...or really lucky at taking a test.

Some of the dumb ass stuff they suggest or put into a scope of work is just laughable...a lot of times they have no practical experience what so ever...and I think this is pretty damn similar to your rant.
