I don't think the lockers are optional. Dontknow When I started HS they took all the lockers out for safety and we had to carry all our stuff.

Oh my gosh I'm the same way!! Not much bugs me when I go to other people's homes (We've got a Husky so shedding doesn't faze me at all, lol) but when people come over here all of the sudden I'm seeing all sorts of things I'm afraid people will focus on "Oh no...there's nose prints all over the window where Phantom looks out...ahhhh the baseboards aren't clean...ahhh the light switch looks dingy...." laugh out loud
Roll
I have a window like that.

In the Summer houses turn into ovens without any air running and even if you take off all your clothes it still can make you sick hot.
Reminds me of many moons ago when we resorted to putting our feet in a plastic tub of ice water, pointing a fan at us, and periodically using a spray bottle of water on ourselves. Then it was almost tolerable.

Yeah I don't mind like a dark burgundy or something but not a ton of it and not bright red. It's a pain to have to paint all the rooms when you first move in. We ended up hiring some college guy to help us paint while my parents watched the kids. I think he was high the entire time and he looked like Shaggy from Scooby Doo but at least it went quicker laugh out loud

ETA: Suuuuundrop laugh out loud
Yeah, I would definitely have to hire someone. I really don't want that time added on to what would already be a rushed move, ya know?

I told my friend earlier that I wasn't very picky. I realized a few hours later that I'm so picky. laugh out loud

My dad said that star thing was common at one point in time. He said it'd be fast to replace, but he thinks the house is too small for me. (Has he seen my current place?? laugh out loud )This is so much worse than car shopping. So.much.worse.

Oh and Roll I'm still waiting on that video. I bet I'll laugh harder than I've ever laughed. laugh out loud

I hated having a locker. Our school was huge and our lockers were sometimes on one side of the school while the class was on the other. Unless you were on track, you weren't making it to class on time.

I'v never heard of a locker fee, though. Anything to get money, I guess.

Good point. In HS we had block schedule, which I hated. But it meant you didn't have much to carry. On Mondays though you had all your classes and had to carry 2 tons of stuff. The teachers wouldn't let you leave anything in class. That sucked.
And I remember I had gym 1st period and 2nd period was allllllll they way across campus upstairs. I never made it to that class on time. shake head

My son has had locker fees since elementary school.

No lockers here until middle school I think. I'm shocked by how heavy BT's backpack was in 1st grade. I got both he & LT rolling backpacks for this year.

I am too tired to sleep. Sleepy2

No ban here yet - but soon, I'm sure. something about a tripping hazard for other students or something.

Iagree

No lockers in elementary schools around me, though. They all get a hook or shelf or cubby hole in each school/district that I've been in.

I remember one year our air was out and it was 97 degrees. I tried putting a bag of ice tied on the front of a fan...thinking it would then blow out cold air. It didn't work though, it just pulled the fan over laugh out loud

Yeah you never realize how picky you are until you start looking for a house. Cause at first I was all "As long as it has three bedrooms and two baths and is over 2k square feet I'm cool." Then I kept adding to the list "As long as it has a lot of trees" "As long as it has a fireplace" "As long as it has a lot of windows" "As long as it doesn't have ugly carpet" "As long as it doesn't have a small kitchen" etc etc etc.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE house shopping though. LOOOOVE it. If I was there I'd so be dragging you around to houses laugh out loud The star thing was common? I wonder why. I have a friend here that moved from TX and she has a lot of those iron Texas Star things hanging in her house but I didn't know they put them in the floors too, lol.

I've never heard of a locker fee either. I love Elizabeth's school. This year will be the second year they've been running (? for lack of a better term, lol). They don't have ANY fund raisers at all during the year, no selling anything. They said they will just ask parents to donate anything they feel they can donate so the kids don't have to have the stress of trying to sell stuff (or rather the parents have the stress of trying to sell the stuff to their friends, lol). I think that's pretty cool.

Btw remember 2 or 3 years ago when you told me that R was selling those scented pencils for his school and I said next time he did let me know and I'll buy some? Let me know if he sells them again this year, I think Christian would get a big kick out of them.

If my AC wasn't working, I'd have to go stay somewhere else. It'd be a freaking oven here. I even emailed THEM about it, then told them I was writing my congressman to see if they can be looked into for this. You know we're paying for that ash spill. It has nothing to do with fuel.
Well good for you. It makes me so mad that they do crap like that. I remember one month when our bill was like 900 something in the winter...I called the electric company here...the lady tried telling me "Well it's winter so you're running the heat more." and I told her I checked and we ran it even a little less than the year before (I checked online to see how many watts or whatever we used) and then she said "Well our rates have gone up and we have the fee for this and this and this and this..." and the fees were crazy. I wish there was more competition and that we didn't HAVE to go with them. Cause they can add all sorts of bullshit fees and raise their rates and it's not like we can take our business elsewhere.

Edit - I realized that "Well good for you" may have sounded sarcastic but actually I really meant it. I may write our congressman too to complain about the extra fees they just keep adding on.
