Oh the things we tell ourselves
If it weren't for being on percocet I'd be drinking tonight.

It looks like you need to download the firmware, and that download will possibly include a tool or wizard that should step you through this... launch the upgrade tool (it seems like that's the thing in the red box in the 2nd picture?), click the button they want you to click, then plug the powered-off tablet into the computer with a USB cable, and turn it on?
I'm assuming the computer will auto-detect the tablet and then the updater will run.
This isn't that far off from typical firmware/software upgrades for other devices. My only concern is going to be whether the updater will see the tablet, and whether the new firmware files are (a) included in the download, and (b) obvious should you have to choose which one you want.
What kind of tablet is this? Sometimes you can find a blog or something that steps you through this... I never found one for my hdd enclosure but a tablet is slightly more ubiquitous and somebody might've already gone through this for you.

Here's a support page from the manufacturer, which will probably have the downloads you want. [iviewus.com]
Does it run Android? I bet you can find a better tutorial for a vanilla/generic Android tablet too. Good luck, let us know how it goes!

Yeah, it runs Ice Cream Sandwich. I'll give it a whirl tomorrow. Today, I'm done. Brain power has checked out for the evening.
If you saw my FB update, that's pretty much how my day went. I was introduced as "my sister-in-law" or "my husband's sister's kids" or "my oldest daughter's kids" and only the last is true. It's exhausting being with mentally ill grandparents and I'm terrified that I saw my future today. So far, 3/4 of my grandparents have been batshit crazy by the time they died. The only one who wasn't crazy dropped dead of a heart attack at 55.
I may be a bit freaked out right now.

I am beginning to wonder if advances in medical knowledge are actually helping. Scary to see how many people are rattling around old folk's homes. I'd rather just be done with life, thank you very much.

I've had that thought about whether modern medical tech is really a good thing. How many people are around today that wouldn't have survived whatever is or was wrong with them even 20 years ago? From a strictly utilitarian perspective is it really better to have everyone surviving longer, with more serious health concerns? Of course it's different when it's YOUR sister/mother/daughter/etc. but... I don't know. One thing's for sure: we're watching people get older and linger longer and that is not always pretty to watch.
My parents always joke about this but I suspect there's more than a bit of truth: Mom works in a hospital and she says she's already got the pills hoarded up, and if the time comes she's mashing everything into their (her & Dad) applesauce.

I am starting to get packages in the mail and I keep forgetting what I ordered. These kids are killing me.
