Costco's 14.2 inch MacBook Pro with the M5 chip, 16GB memory, and 1TB storage is being treated as a strong value at $1,349.99, especially versus Apple's $1,999 price and the newly launched M6 model. The Pro's better screen, ports, and fan cooling make it appealing for everyday productivity and lighter creative or development work, while the 1TB SSD is a standout at this price. The main hesitation is 16GB RAM, which can feel tight for heavy multitasking, Teams, large browser sessions, or demanding dev and AI workloads. Costco's 90 day return window and second year of warranty soften the risk if a better deal appears later.

Common Questions (5)

  • For office work, web browsing, light Python, photo editing, and light video editing, 16GB is enough and can last several years. It can feel tight with heavy multitasking, many browser tabs, Teams, or demanding dev workflows, where 24GB or more is a safer choice.

  • The current price is $1,349.99, far below Apple's $1,999 price and below the newly launched M6 model at $1,999. The 90-day Costco return window makes it practical to buy now and still return it if a better Black Friday deal appears.

  • The purchase limit is 2 per member. Costco also offers a 90-day return window on computers and a second year of warranty, which reduces the risk if a better deal appears later.

  • Yes. Stock varies by warehouse, Costco has canceled orders after placement, and the page can freeze during checkout. Inventory also appears to restock periodically, so refreshing may help.

  • Yes. The same price is honored in the warehouse: check stock in the app, get a ticket at the Apple booth, pay at the register, and pick it up at Merchandise Pickup. Online orders also include free shipping.

Costco has the 14" MacBook Pro with the M5 chip, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD (MDE14LL/A, item #1945139) for $1,349.99. Apple charges $1,999. It's on costco.com with free shipping, and most warehouses have it at the same price, though stock varies. The limit is 2 per member. You get Costco's 90-day return window on computers and a second year of warranty. The new M6 version just launched at $1,999, so this looks like a clearance price.

Buy a smashed screen M1 off ebay and swap your screen onto it. $200 fix.

It all depends on a user's individual needs, 16GB is more than enough for over 98% of users since the integrated unified memory architecture is built directly onto the processor. This is a great deal, especially with the 1TB hard drive. The MacBook Air that keeps getting posted has only a 512 GB SSD.

For 1350 it's absolutely fine. For a good local llm you need atleast 128gb. Get this for 1350 and get Claude or gpt subscription for 20/month. Rather than buying 32gb for 2-3k.
