Costco's 14.2 inch MacBook Pro with the M5 chip, 16GB of memory, and 1TB storage is being treated as a strong value at $1,349.99, especially versus Apple's $1,999 price and the newly launched M6 model. The Pro's better screen and extra ports make it appealing over the MacBook Air, and the 1TB storage is a standout at this price. The main hesitation is 16GB RAM, which feels fine for office work, browsing, and light creative tasks, but can feel tight with heavy multitasking, development, or local AI work. Costco's 90 day return window and second year of warranty soften the risk.

  • Costco's 90-day return window can reduce risk if the M6 version or a better Black Friday price appears soon.

  • 16GB RAM can be sufficient for office work, web browsing, and light Python or light photo/video editing workloads.

    Capetotxpyrofreshsqueezed

  • The 1TB SSD configuration can support heavier storage needs compared with lower-capacity MacBook Air setups.

    freshsqueezedCapeto

  • Costco's in-warehouse pickup flow can make it practical to buy online and collect the MacBook Pro locally.

    TheDoDeals

  • 16GB RAM can feel limiting under heavier multitasking, which may lead to disk swapping during everyday use.

  • Order placement can fail when the checkout screen freezes, and some orders can be cancelled shortly after submission.

    BlNG0Capeto

  • Office apps can trigger memory pressure, and Teams can perform poorly on these MacBook Pro configurations.

  • Intermittent freezing can occur on Apple Silicon MacBook Pro models, including M1 Pro configurations.

I had the same, but ultimately was able to place the order with the ship to and pickup from store option. I also changed the credit card I was using, but my money is on the pickup option.
Cancellation email from costco just came through.

I had the M1/8GB RAM macbook air 13 and it handled my productivity tasks just fine. 16GB is enough for 90% of the population with normal use, unless you have 100+ tabs open with VM's running, etc.

For 1350 it's absolutely fine. For a good local llm you need atleast 128gb. Get this for 1350 and get Claude or gpt subscription for 20/month. Rather than buying 32gb for 2-3k.
or Copilot free with your 365 subscriptions, to a certain extent.

Deal works in the warehouse too. Was able to check for stock in the app, go to the Apple booth and get a ticket, pay at the register and get it at Merchandise Pickup 🙌

I think I'm going to go 24gb. Just so I don't run into issues later. Some people supposedly are saying 16gb sometime has slow downs now
