This 14 inch MacBook Pro with the M5 chip, 16GB of memory, and 1TB of storage is being called a strong clearance price for a high end MacBook, especially with Costco's free shipping, 90 day computer returns, and second year warranty. The same price is also visible online, and the M6 launch makes the discount look even better. The main concern is 16GB RAM, which may feel tight for heavier multitasking, Office and Teams, or future proofing. For general use, though, the storage and Pro features make it a compelling everyday machine.

Costco has the 14" MacBook Pro with the M5 chip, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD (MDE14LL/A, item #1945139) for $1,349.99. Apple charges $1,999. It's on costco.com with free shipping, and most warehouses have it at the same price, though stock varies. The limit is 2 per member. You get Costco's 90-day return window on computers and a second year of warranty. The new M6 version just launched at $1,999, so this looks like a clearance price.

Buy a smashed screen M1 off ebay and swap your screen onto it. $200 fix.

It all depends on a user's needs. The last MacBook I purchased 2 years ago was an air model with only 8GB RAM and I had to return it. 16GB is more than enough for my needs. This is a great deal, though, especially with the 1TB hard drive.

For 1350 it's absolutely fine. For a good local llm you need atleast 128gb. Get this for 1350 and get Claude or gpt subscription for 20/month. Rather than buying 32gb for 2-3k.
