Community Reviews

This LG UltraGear 45 inch OLED is praised as a strong gaming monitor, with office use described as acceptable and text still readable. The low pixel density stands out, especially if you sit close, and the 5k2k version is repeatedly framed as the better choice for sharper desktop use. The bigger concern is open box condition, since Fair units can be shelf or display models with heavy use and burn in, though some Fair pickups have only minor cosmetic damage. Checking the panel in store and leaning on the return or warranty window helps reduce the risk.

Be careful with open box oleds. Many of them have burn in from my personal experience especially if they are shelf displays

Does fair version mean either some customer used it really long or it's a store display?

What about the other one that is 45'' and 5K2K monitor? As long as it is better than open-box fair, then it's good?

My "fair" pickup had over 5,000 hours of screen on time and severe burn in. It was clearly a display model.

Agreed. Just went through the headache of returning an LG c5 65". Luckily my trunk fit the TV to return it easily but I was freaking out handling its thin chassis. The panel had really bad burn-in and their geeksquad team doesn't test for it. I gave them an earfill saying they shouldn't resell any with bad burn in, hopefully it's something they test for and consider.

Shoot for "good" or higher said an associate. Fair is most likely their shelf display model, although some have reported to find hidden gems.

Have this model. Didn't buy used. It's great for gaming, office work it's ok. DPI is a little low if you sit to close it's not great but still readable.

3 separate open box items i got from best buy were completely mangled in terrible condition and they were all labeled excellent. Best buy does not do a good job of checking or storing these items. Buyer beware.

I bought one of these open box fair for a sim rig. Mine had only a few hundred hours and the fair was from a dent on the frame from handling. Your best bet is to ask if you can check it out at the store. That's what I did and they were nice enough to let me power it on to check before walking out with it.

That would not be the case if you have a 60 day return policy and you purchase the four year warranty.

YMMV but Best Buy's Geek Squad warranty would allow you to replace for a working/new model if this is the case since it's not something that can be "repaired" traditionally.
