=======================================================================================
There are three types of Shutterfly coupon codes:

1 - Account Codes - Shutterfly adds a code to your account and, depending on your email preferences, emails you to alert you to the offer. This is not transferable - the offer is tied to that Shutterfly account.

Make sure you tell Shutterfly to email you and you won't miss any deals. If you find deals in your account that you did not see in email - check your preferences.

* Go to My Shutterfly
* Go to the bottom and click on Personal Info/Settings
* Click on change under Email Preferences
* Make sure that the first box is checked
* Save now

A recent development in the Shutterfly world, probably in response to all the selling on eBay and trading on forums like this, where the offer code is emailed to the customer AND they have to add it to their account - it is not always added automatically by Shutterfly. The codes are typically 6-8 characters and look exactly like the shareable codes -- but they will only work on the accounts that Shutterfly chose to email this offer to.

2 - Shareable Codes - Shutterfly has some codes that are offered to affiliates/partners. These coupons can be shared and used in multiple accounts (once per account). Examples of what these codes look like are NMSA-XXXX or WIXXER09.

3 - Unique One time use codes - Shutterfly also offers one time use codes, typically they are 18 alphanumeric characters long, that come with special offers. These codes may be emailed to you or included in a printed card when you get a Shutterfly shipment. They may be won via Shutterfly contests. They may come from Shutterfly or from partner offers. Often times you can see these codes being sold on eBay. Examples of what these codes look like XXXX-7H9P-EBFX-V39VEC.

OB just called back. Ortho is calling in steroids to pharmacy to try to help with the inflammation, and will see me tomorrow for the shot directly into the nerve. I am so desperate for some relief, I am happy with anything I can get! It feels like knife blades stabbing all down the back and leg whenever I move the slightest bit. I'm supposed to be drinking at least 10 glasses of water to keep away contractions, but then I have to get up constantly to go to the bathroom, and it hurts so much to move that Dh has to practically carry me there, so I feel like I'm about to burst because I wait so long to go!

Angel, so sorry to hear about your crazy weekend. Puts my aches and pains in perspective and I'm so sorry you're having to deal with that right now. PRaying that it will go away soon and that dh and the boys are taking good care of you.

I'm still home, but keep wondering when the time will come. Sorry if this is TMI, but I am 3cm dilated and lost my "plug" on Thursday. Can't believe I'm still home after all the pressure I've been feeling.

I posted this on FB, but would love any setting tips for shooting inside with my Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens. I've only practiced with it a little bit, and I need some go-to tips for settings to give my dh who will be taking most of the hospital shots. We can always use the kit lens, but I love the idea of no flash, close-ups, and some nice background blur. Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Ok... For a hospital setting, take a white piece of paper and adjust the white balance. take photos under halogen and tungsten (or whatever) indoor lighting and then see which resulting piece of paper actually lose white. Make the adjustment.

2nd. Don't open the lens so wide open because it will give you about 5 centimenters of depth of field... and that is if you are lucky. I'd probably suggest going 2.8 or so. My guess is that if you use aperture priority you will have shutter speeds of around 1/60 of a second. That should be sufficient. If it is lower, 1/10 of a second per say, then open the aperture to around 2.4. Anything below 1/60 is usually going to result in some blurring and i really doubt that he is going to tripod mount the camera in the hospital room. Also remember that there isn't IS on the lens... so you may lose 20% of your shots.

I'd throw the iso around 800 if I'm just throwing around a ball park figure... but 400 might work. You may want to check with that.

Also,... check to make sure your card is empty... I'm guessing you have a 4 GB or higher, which is about 1000 shots, but the last thing in the world you want to happen is to have the card filled up and you miss actual shots of the baby.

If I can make a suggestion. Flash can be a definite detraction... and I personally hate all built in flashes. BUT... if you can afford to rent the 430ex speedlite flash...

http://www.amazon.com/Canon-430EX...390&sr=8-2

probably from a local store, but you can also go to borrowlenses.com and rent stuff there. You can bounce the flash off the ceiling and it will shine down giving a ton of light and some pretty nice shots.

So there you go.

Iso: 800
WB: Halogen or whatever
Aperture: 2.8
Shutter speed: 1/60
Auto Focus: on
Card: empty
and flash is optional.

I will say that when I use my XS (and I believe you have the XSi), it does occasionally come out grainy. I usually manipulate the photo to black and white, and it gives it a nice grainy look. Not quite sure why... but it is pleasing.

Oh, and remember the focal range for the 55mm is 18 inches. So don't have him get in too close, because everything will be blurred. So have him stand at a distance (over 18 inches), have the auto focus do it's job. then Crop the photos later and you can have your nice close ups, but it will probably be 6 megapixels rather than 12.

Jd, this is exactly what I needed. Okay, I know nothing about the white balance stuff, so I'm going to have to do some research on that. (Which is fine, because I'm still at home, no hospital yet.) 2.8 is exactly what I was thinking (and tried a little bit today) but I didn't know if I should set it on manual or one of the others. I'm going to try AP. I don't think we're going to pack the tripod (we already have a bag each, bags for both kids, boppy pillow, 2 car seats, etc. who would have thought someone so tiny required so much stuff). I'm okay with losing 20% of my shots, I delete at least that many all the time anyway. I just told dh to take lots. I was also thinking iso 800, but really wanted some verification there. We can try many different ones, but I want to have it set right for those initial shots. Got an empty card, no external flash, and I need to check the battery. Maybe I should charge it tonight just to make sure it's all ready. Thanks so much for your help. I really hate that we can't rep here any more. Where else are you posting so I can go rep you somewhere else.

Sounds like a perfect solution. Coach, I know exactly how that feels. When I had my knee surgery and got an infection, my pain was at 10 on the pain scale and going to the bathroom seemed absolutely impossible. Hang in there sweetie.

Kootz, you and Larry are in my prayers. Comfort I just wish I could lug my giant bod to Florida to spoil you a little bit.

Quote from Coach Girl :
Spent the night in hospital. Contractions stopped, but now baby is directly on my sciatic nerve, which sends constant, shooting pains down back & leg. Demerol didn't work- pain is still 10 out of 10. Need an orthopedist to shoot steroids directly into inflamed nerve. OB said can go to ER to see if an ortho is there, or can try to endure the pain until Mon, since if no ortho in ER they'll just give more Demerol. =(

I am literally crying from the pain, but if I stay completely still and not move at all then it doesn't trigger the nerve and hurt as much. Dh practically carried me to the bathroom, so I don't even know if I could make it to the car to go back to the hospital if I wanted to take my chances at the ER, and then to sit hours in a waiting room and pay a ER co=pay just to wind up with another shot of useless Demerol.
hug Praying it gets better soon!

Now I'm basing many of my presumptions on how Dallas was born. She came out around 8p.m. or so and we were watching football by 9:15p.m. If you happen to go into labor around 4a.m., and you have windows in your delivery room, and you are having a surprising amount of light pour in from the outside around the time the baby comes, then all of the above is going to change.

That's why I like to use Av (aperture priority) because you control depth of field with the aperture at 2.8 and the camera will adjust shutter speed accordingly based upon the gradient of light that is coming into the room (early morning to day). I use Av often when I'm outdoors and it is a cloudy day. One photo will be in direct sunlight, the next under the shadow of a cloud. I find that I lose less shots that way.

Also, I'd suggest that he stand between the window and his subject, otherwise, the backlight flooding in will mess with the light metering and the subject will look all black.

Also, I wouldn't worry about the light balance too much. It's actually easy. At the church the other day I was uncertain of the light, so what I did is I opened up the book of hymns, took a photo with one WB setting, then changed it to the other setting and compared to two images. Just look for the one that looks white... and bam, done.

I'm not too concerned with the repping. Ya'll fine ladies have repped me to the point where I can be a wise ass in the other threads and people for the most part respect what I'm saying because they believe there must be some truth to the matter.

Have a easy labor with many terrific photos. My policy on not commenting on whether a newborn baby is cute or not is still in effect.

L143...Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. It saddens me to think that everything going on with you right now you would think to waste precious $$ on me but my heart soars when you DID think of me. I love you dearly and hoping you are having a wonderful day today hearthugheart
grrrr... no need for thanks!! I'm just glad you like it. heart

Dh practically carried me to the bathroom, so I don't even know if I could make it to the car to go back to the hospital if I wanted to take my chances at the ER, and then to sit hours in a waiting room and pay a ER co=pay just to wind up with another shot of useless Demerol.
o no... hunny, i hope it gets better for you!

baby shower went GREAT...she opened gifts the ENTIRE time... we played games in between but with a crowd that size (85 peopl) it was hard to keep their attention. She isn't going to need many things except for gender specific clothes once the baby is here. Thanks again for all the ideas!!! xoxo Pics will be up eventually! LOL

Thanks guys. It isnt' like big things are happening but there isnt' much talking either. I think now that I am going for help there is a big tension and I am not just doing as he wants. Trying to do as the counselor says and I don't think DH likes the change. Then do something about it and come with me!
I agree! I hope the counseling is helping you feel better about things. hug

Hi friends, been a rough couple of days here. I make it through the work day okay, but by afternoon/evening deal with pain and other signs that this babe is coming. We were supposed to have friends for dinner last night and I cancelled after much debate because I felt like we might be going to the hospital. But after laying with my feet up for a while, the pains stopped and I went back to just being uncomfortable. I hate this point, not only for the pain, but also the not knowing. I never know when to call, or if they are real contractions, etc. etc. Feeling okay today and trying to take it easy (relative term around here, but still trying).

We're going over to friends tonight, she is expecting a girl 3 weeks after me. I'm bringing ALL my girl stuff and hoping she takes lots of it. She has a boy, so I might get some hand-me-downs too. She is the one who's expecting a baby with a cleft lip/palate, so they're dealing with some pretty mixed emotions at this point. Praying a lot for this family.

Other than that, I left sub plans on my desk just in case I'm not back on monday. OMGEEK! Now to tackle the pile of grading that I owe the kids. Hmmm... I guess that needs to be prioritized over a nap while the babe sleeps.
Hope you had a nice visit with your friends and that the little guy decides to hurry up and make his entrance into the world!

It most certainly was BUT I want to know who sent it

Speaking of...Thank you also for the lovely card you sent. I truly now know what you went and continue to go through.

Also thanking Dawn, Tn and Zm and everyone else for your wonderful pm's and cards. You ladies are the most lovely friends a woman can ever have. Ya'll have so much on your plates right now but took the time to think of me and my family. I love you all heart

Hey Kids...Need your opinions on this

I am not a big fan of the square border but I will be ironing these on colored shirts therefore I have to cut out the pattern before it's ironed on.

I spent 2 hours looking for a bracket type pattern for the border but I could not find any that could easily be cut.

I have to make 4 different ones for each day so I am thinking of just changing the colors.

I am also thinking maybe too many guitars?

Help...I am having problems with this and I think it's because I am having trouble concentrating lately Frown

Well...Since I am talking to myself...What about this with the same type of wording as above

I'm supposed to be drinking at least 10 glasses of water to keep away contractions, but then I have to get up constantly to go to the bathroom, and it hurts so much to move that Dh has to practically carry me there, so I feel like I'm about to burst because I wait so long to go!
hug I hope you were able to be seen by the Ortho this morning to get some relief. Sending some prayers your way. Take care of yourself and that little peanut!

I'm still home, but keep wondering when the time will come. Sorry if this is TMI, but I am 3cm dilated and lost my "plug" on Thursday. Can't believe I'm still home after all the pressure I've been feeling.
Wow! I can't believe you are still home either! I can't wait to see your little guy!! heart
